Importing the Evo VII
RS-2 TME, you ASSUME too much.
And I also agree with Mark, the reason that little things like this are discussed is because we don't know any of the details about the US spec Evo. Mitsubishi has told us crap.

I thought the same things RS-2 TME mentioned about the USA. For sure, there's not much to do with an Evo sitting in NYC or LA traffic. But when I went to Las Vegas 2 weeks ago, there are some good roads with curves etc in the region of Lake Mead / Hoover Dam. But you meet a lot of Police cars and bikes there...
I'm sure there's some nice roads you could use an Evo on. Someone mentioned that road in California a few months ago, where they have this race, the DRAGON (a stretch of US-129 in western North Carolina that contains 318 turns in 11 miles). Roads like these or the track will probably be the best use for the Evo in the USA.
I hope you're wrong about the cars becoming softer, it doesnt get much softer anymore...

I have to say that there is a lot more to the US than NYC and LA. Even in the LA area there are some great roads. My favorite is a 22 mile two-lane road with jumps, drop offs, 180 plus hairpins. There is even a tree in the middle of the road. So we will not all be stuck in traffic.
Here in the US we are trying to piece together the EVO that we are going to get. There are some EVO’s that Mitsubishi has here in California and we are trying to figure them out. LHD speedos in MPH and they look like GSRs.
If the US has a fault, it is the preoccupation with ¼ mile times only. If the EVO that is imported to the US is close in spec to the JDM or Euro cars it will benefit everyone. The US aftermarket can produce great products.
Now many people in the WRX forums have an obsession with the sunroof they cannot get. But the US is a big country so I can’t explain all of it.

Erik,
Good to hear that you have some great roads where you live. Obviously, the USA being one of the biggest countries in the world, there are lots of different roads etc. It's just that from a European viewpoint, the US is made of big straight roads going from one huge city to another, limited to 65 mph and Police cars and helicopters all over the place just bust you if you go 66. This is obviously stereotyping it, and I hope most of you (who will shortly be getting an Evo and modifying it to the highest standards) live not to far from the type of road we like (and not too far from the gas stations
)
It'll be another few months, but it'll be there :headbng2:
