A redline chip is when you send your ECU to Jet for reprogramming. All it does is reset your parameters to handle different mods.

It said it was a power chip, but thanks on the info utiheadbanger. I don't have it on anymore anyways because the dealership took it off. I don't care anyways because RRM piggyback should be here soon.

Just out of interest, what kind of chip was it, a jet chip or a resistor chip?

I am surprised that the dealer still works on it...knowing it's been tampered with and knowing Mitsu they might void your entire warranty.

Honestly, I think they were fascinated with what I had hooked into it. They just unhooked my nitrous, power chip, and catch can. They did the warranty work and just left all my stuff unhooked. I signed the papers so they would get paid by Mitsu and away I went. The person whom sold me my vehicle didn't think I was actually going to pull through with getting all of it done. He liked it and sat in my car. As for the power chip, I think it was a resistor, but I could feel improvement. The chip when it was taken off my acceleration was slower.

Was this before or after you killed it?

I can't speak from personal experience with Mitsu because I do all of my own maintenance at my dealer, but I know when people come in with tampered BMW's or MINI"s, if the part directly is responsible for the damage, we don't warranty it. I also know that a lot of dealers will not work on cars that already have aftermarket performance parts on them, and if they do they will put it back to stock and charge the customer for it no matter what the problem is. My buddy works at Bob Rohrman Mitsubishi and he was told by his service manager to do this.

I was going to put together a mad racer, but I decided for the money I was going to spend I will save up to buy a house and move out. I have graduated and I don't want to stay at home too long. My next car is also going to be bought sometime next year, possibly summer of 2007, but I can't yet because I have negative equity on my car. What I alluded to earlier about paying off your car and worrying about mods later is that you will learn when you go through whatever type of school you choose is that you will accumulate mad debt and modifying a car is the last thing you want to do. Everything on my car I have gotten either cheap or free. I bought a Kenwood Excelon 589 receiver for $150 on Ebay ($250 on crutchfield.com) I inherited two 10" MTX Thunder6000 subs in a sealed box and I bought a Pioneer 760W 2 Channel amp with a Best Buy gift card I got for graduation. Best investment I have ever made, seeing as how I drive my car every day to and from work and transport my girlfriend and I around (hence why I save my money...since I plan on marrying her I want to be able to afford a ring.)

Ok, after all this blabbering, I am just saying be smart about what you do in the future!

One funny lesson I learned was with my first car. I had a 1993 Dodge Shadow ES hatchback. It had the 3.0V6 from the base model Dodge Stealth. For that car, it was quick. I wanted to mod it every way I could, problem is I didn't know **** about cars. I put a K&N Typhoon for a '95 Prelude on it (with a little sawing and customizing), a Dynomax Superturbo cat-back exhaust with DTM tips and a system. It didn't cost me much, but every time I did something to my car, with my luck, something bad happened. I must've dropped over $4000 into the car when I originally payed $3800 for it. My point - waste the money on a car that's worth it. I am not saying the Lancer is a bad car (I love the way it looks) but it isn't worth the money. With what you paid for it and what you bought, you could have had a nicer, faster car. I am glad to see you are at least reading what we all say, we don't mean this to totally make you look like an *** just to help you realize the experience we have.

What do you do for a living, if you don't mind me asking? A turbo, nitrous and a body kit isn't exactly cheap.

Inheritance money from my mom. She died last August of 2004 in a car accident. I'm the youngest son and I'm just glad she got to see me the last one to graduate. That's why I said I didn't get this in a good way. I feel bad, but I've invested my money and I have only dumped my money into this car and nothing really else. Then my grandpa my mom's dad just passed away recently and I am entitled to inheritance money off his farm. Honestly all the stuff i have in my car has been discount price only. I haven't paid retail prive for any of it, except the RRM products with a small discount here and there. My dream is to one day be sponsored and I'm trying to work on that.

Sorry to hear that, surprised you didn't trade the lancer in and buy something a little nicer, cause given 10000$ thats what I'd do.
