ZEX Dry Nitrous Installed in ES

I had a guy finish the ZEX dry nitrous kit yesterday. We tried it out at a 55 shot (the lowest) and it worked fine at first. I raced a Dodge SRT (my buddy) just to see how much of a difference nitrous makes. I had a small head start because his tires were squealing, then he took off. At the end of the race, my car was knocking bad like it was going to die. The hose to my oil catch can was pinched and the car in low idle was knocking still really bad. We think one of the vaccum hoses is shot off or some of the piston rings went bad. We are going to tear the car apart tomorrow to see what is going on with it. Minas well upgrade while I'm out of commission.... The nitrous was fun, but now it may be costly. Possibly fried piston rings, hole in piston, or vaccum line broke somewhere. Once we take my engine apart, we will know.

You cannot run nitrous on the 4G94 engine. Whether it's a 55-shot or a 5-shot the pistons cannot handle it. You probably cracked the piston on the top ring land. Search the boards. Everyone who used nitrous blew up. And everyone that took their engines apart afterwards took pictures that looked almost identical. Even I blew a past engine up on nitrous. Mine lasted only 3 sprays.

Well the good news is now you can build a stronger engine that will be able to take some abuse.

Sucribed to this thread. Guys lets keep this on topic as much as we can. This thread could be a great lesson to people that dont search. a 55 shot is quite but to "Start" on. If you were running a 20 shot you may still have had an engine.

The thing is my friend was the one pressing it because he installed it. He can be a dumbass sometimes and I think he held it in too long. The good thing is I have new pistons already and I'm waiting on the new rods from RRM. I plan on ordering a bunch of other stuff too while it is out of commission. Once I find out exactly what is wrong I will post more. Hopely it's not one of the sixteen valves

Friends don't let friends NOS... I'd tell him that you don't want to be his friend anymore till he buys you new internals. And then kick his ***...

Yeah, I haven't talked to him since then. Does anyone think they know what could possibly be wrong?
