Let the car heat up for 5 or 10 minutes before you start driving it in really cold weather and then see if it makes a difference. Mine does not do that though. =/

Make sure you don't have the A/C button on. Even though you might have it to the heat setting, the A/C could be on, costing you some engine power. Aside from that, running the heater should have no effect on your power, and it can actually help the engine warm up a little faster.

Defrost uses AC. and for some reason quite a bit of power. I notice that my Fan dims my lights a bit for a breif second, but thats because my altinator is almost dead. (new one goes in tomorow)

defrost sends air over the AC compressor to remove the humidity so it doesn't fog your windows even worse. That's why you notice the drain. You should be letting your engine warm up for a few minutes anyway to let the RPMs come down and get the fluids up to temp which your heater then uses to heat the passenger compartment.

mine only seems to have issues when i start trying to use the heater and stuff when the engine is still cold. Let the engine warm for a minuite or two and mine doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

Hope this helps.

Belt just needs to be tightened or replaced. I hate that noise. My old Llac did it a lot. That thing was a piece.
