He should just do the rear also, so it wouldn't look funny. Hopefully he won't be racing. They will be like, "Evo are slow, I just smoke one."

I actually have to ask, why? The dimensions just won't work very well, the evo is wider than our little lancer so it doesn't look right. Even with the evo fenders or wider fenders in general it still won't look right, the wheel base is wrong. Its no different than those integra owners who buy skyline conversions or civic guys who put type-R badges on, its attempting to pass off one car as another which is fine for the show circuit, but on the street will only lead to ridicule when you pop your hood and theres a 120hp engine looking back.

no its not like slapping a typeR badge on your honda. now if he put an evo badge on his es then yes, but hes not, thats not even a stock evo bumper or fenders so technically hes not making his car look like an evo, his bumper as just as different as all the kits out for the lancer. Basically its just a custom front end using evo parts.

Well whats the point of putting a type R badge on a honda? To make people think you drive a type R because you like the type R. Whats the point of making a lancer look like an evo? To make the car look like an evo because you like the evo, its the same basic premise of making something appear to be something it is not. This applies more to that guy in the link than the person in this thread of course.

thats the thing, guys in ****ty old hondas might slap the type R on cause they think no one will notice. I didnt really read anything from the guy in the link, but if he did say hes trying to look like an evo, then good for him for doing the work to make it there, as long as he never says its an actual evo, even though it might cause a lil confusion with those who arent 100% sure about what an evo looks like. and for the guy in this thread, again, just dont claim you have an evo or anything close to it and its ok, though people are still going to have stuff to say about it.

Well at the same time, how many people can tell an evo from a base lancer (not including people on this forum of course)? I've had people say "hey thats the car from gran turismo"....and I drive a base lancer, no wing, no rims, nothing evo like at all. The only issues I have are 1. its not an evo, and simply won't look right, the wheel base is shorter and theres the problem of no brembos, turbos, etc. and 2. its making a car look like something its not. Its no different than the guys who put evo badges on a lancer and claim "oh well its evolved so its fine", I simply don't see the point. All thats going to happen is ricers are gonna try to race you and then claim their civic with an intake beat an evo and the people that actually know the difference are just gonna point and laugh, like I would if I saw it drive by (what can I say, I'm an assh0le).

If a ricer civic beats this guy and claims he beat an evo, he gets made fun of cause he cant tell the difference between the 2. And again, its not the stock evo bumper or fenders, so really its a widebody kit with the resemblance of the evo front end. and as long as hes not puting a badge on it, its not claiming its an evo or that it can keep up with one, cause hes not doing the rear either. and he can space the wheels out to make it fit

Again this was more in reference to the link car, which seems to have actual evo body panels. Like you said the guy in this thread just seems to want a widebody kit actually designed for the car. I'm not too sure on spacing the wheels out, not sure how far you can go before problems are encountered. I guess I'm just not a body kit and bling kind of guy, I'm far more impressed with a car thats made to go fast as opposed to one thats made to look good while its parked.

oh i understand on the body kit stuff, I plan on staying no kit, I prefer engine over body, and im happy with the way my car looks, since the rims and neons were a gift. Any money i put into my car will be engine or suspension. but i figure, i dont own everyone elses car so let them do what they want and encourage it as long as its not stupid (in my opinion, cause some people will always oppose something...hint hint. j/k).
