$190 is not bad especially when you didn't even purchase the springs from us. I gave you the same price I would to guys who buy product from us and have us install.

Install your-self if you can have access to a few tools. Spring Compressor might not be necessary, but save your-self the chance to find out if you should have used one and use one.

^ That only makes sense if you mean a full kit when you say coilovers. Ground Control (last time I checked) is a coilover kit, but you still have to use the stock struts.

That's what I mean... if you're re-using the stock struts, putting any sturt assy apart or together, a Spring Compressor could save you lots of problems including injuries.

I bought a spring compressor when I was installing my progress springs. I never needed it though, the springs aren't compressed much...

Actually, that answer was meant for a post on the previous page. I must not have realized that there were more posts after his

But you still don't need a spring compressor on the Lancer. I pulled the springs off with an impact gun and there is no danger when the spring jumps a whole 3 inches. It does vary by model, though. I helped my dad pull the springs off his 68 Mustang, and the spring compressor had to coil those things so tight, I'd expect a death if the spring flew off!

spring compressors are always a good idea, no matter what, you cant be too cautious. but i would say that if you are not very experienced in the ways of the suspensin on your vehicle that you let soemone else do it. 200 bucks or so is not a bad price for this project. i mean if they run itno any problems, like we did on mine, it could take a few hours. it took us almost 6 hours to do mine, because one bolt was being a bastard. if you run into that problem in your back yard you may not be able to drive your car for a while, but if you are letting someone else do it, they are responsible for fixing anything. get what im sayin. anyway, i say let someone else do it.

We actually have a guide on this forum in ROAD///RACE Corner. Tells how to do install.

Basically, Eibachs you need a spring compressor to install, Progress no spring compressor. But getting the stock springs off is a little dangerous without spring compressor. Other tool that is a must is an impact gun.

$190 is a good price, i paid $200 to have my Tein coilovers put on. i tried to do it myself, but without an impact gun i couldnt brake the bolts on the strut. In fact i bent 2 of my Metwrenches!!! and the say theyre unbendable

Totally agree with you. And your "How to" is what I used when I did my springs

Okay, seriously take into consideration how much your friend actually knows. Does he really know WTF he's gonna be diong, or does he have a basic knowledge and can't wait to try out his exploration skills on your car. Shop around, like most others havfe suggested, and get them professionaly installed. The good news with the pro install...warantys, gaurantees, and you can always take it back if they screw it up. At $190 install, that's almost what you'll spend getting all of the compressor kits, etc. just to install it yourself. Take it to a shop. That's what they do for a living.
