There was someone on ebay a few months ago that was selling the internal parts for the heater knobs fixing that problem. But like most of you i just never bothered fixing it he was selling them for about $10 i believe.

I had the same problem, it was hard to turn, i took it back to the dealership. They told me the control box melted and they replaced the whole thing. The knob is still a lil stiff but i think its cause I live in AZ and really dont turn the knob much. The joy of having 80 degree in the winter. ha ha ha

Mine was the same way when I got it, they fixed it so it would at least move, but it's still a little stiff at some points.

Actually this is like a recall on the 03 evo. My ac heater knob was hard to turn too. I took it in and they "updated the linkage system" even though i had mods. The only thing i did do was place the stock radio back in before i went. The knob is still hard but easier to turn than before.

They change mine under warranty (3 yrs/36 000mi). They put a new heater box (The big module behind the console.) comming from a 2004 with a cabin filter element. My dealers said the problem was cause by the dust going into the mecanism inside this big box. They put at the same time a new heater core, climatisation core...

They change every thing under warranty. (I have a 2003 btw.)
