I didn't have any problems with my 04 OZ. The only thing that I really noticed was when I was shifting through gears....As I stepped on the clutch and let off the gas, the rpms would stay where they were at (i.e. 3500) and not go down, for a few seconds, as I shifted into the next gear. It kinda made shifting smoother.

I have an 03 lancer rally and my catalytic converter is messed up now. It never went in for recall so that may be what caused it. Should i get a test pipe in place or just get a magnaflow high flow cat?

It's the first cat, so you should get some headers and not worry about it.

I've got an '02 lancer and before I had the ECU reflashed for that recall my car ran just fine. Now at idle if the AC is one when the clutch on the compressor kicks in the RPMs jump to like 1200-1300 and when it kicks off the engine revs to 2000 then idles back to about 800. Real pain in the but if you asked me. For the first 3 years having it the engine would idle at about 600 then when the compressor kicked on go to 900...no big jumps.

Also, while my car was still under warranty the O2 sensor went out and they had to change out the whole CAT because it was supposedly "melted onto" the CAT.

So probably 6 in one hand half a dozen in the other. Could be a pain either way.

got the recall done to my car a few months ago and I haven't had any problems since (knocks on wood). but I dunno if its me, but it did seem to make the car run a bit smoother...but it could just be me, justifying having the recall done.

My car has never had this recall done and its an 2002. I would take it to the dealer and get it fixed cause my check engine light is always on but, since my car has been wrecked Mitsubishi says that my car is not allowed into their service department. Does anyone know what it is that they do?

They reflash your ECU (change the information stored on it), which may or may not help your car, depending...

PS - go to a different dealership. Or call the Mitsubishi HQ and complain. That is utter bull**** that they won't take your car in the service bay. It's a factory recall. They OWE you the service. Demand what you are owed.

Hi,
I was wondering if there were any web page that i can confirm this recal. My concern is that i just bought a 04 ES 3 months ago from a used car dealer and i would like to find out if this was done to my car prior me buying it.

I found this site, http://www.autosite.com/content/own/...id/22652;ASITE , but there is nothing listed for the ECU recall on the lancer.

Does anyone has more info on this?

Contact any dealer. They have to inform you and then do the recall on your car, no matter where you bought it. It's a factory recall.

Did they say why? Maybe they didn't have the software/hardware or something.

I sold my Lancer before this recall hit, so I don't know all the specifics of which dealerships are able to do what.

does the CEL have to be on for you to get the ecu reflashed n stuff? Or will they do it even if the CEL isnt on?
Cos i reset my ecu to make the light go away, even though the problem is still there, and i still need the recall done.

No, your CEL problem is just a fault that your vehicle had/has. You still can take your ride into the dealer to get the recall done. Call the dealer up and get some more info about the recall.

All that matters for the recall is your car falling within a certain range of production dates, generally. CEL is just an ugly byproduct...
