ECU recall

i have a 2005 lancer es, and they called me in for an ecu recall. i made an appointment for sunday, but i read some threads and ppl were saying how bad it was. that was for a 2003 lancer, so i dont know what will happen to mine.
i currently have no mods at all, but will have them in the future (maybe even rrm piggyback). (i dont know if this info helps).
my question: should i go in to get the recall or no?

oooh man, they haven't called me about my 2005 lancer es. Crap. Thanks for posting. I'd like some input on this as well. If we need to do it, then I should do it before I get my headers installed. . . I am also planning on getting rrm piggy ...

i have an 04 and i didnt like mine at all. one time i jumped into the car, waited 30 secs, put it in reverse and it jumped up to like 2700 rpms. talk about scary and fast to be going in R on a decline. if u do get it, id suggest unplugging battery if u dont like it. my 2 cents.

it resets the ecu by cutting power to it. the recall is supposed to do something with the temperate of the cat converter.

that guy was me. If i were you i would really read up on exactly what they are going to do to the ecu. For the o3's it was because the warm-up would cause damage to the first cat(header) so for those that were going to get headers anyways, this recall would be unnecessary.
I guess if you decide to go through with it and you get adverse effects from it. You can always do what i did and tell them you want the number to the main office. And call them and make a complaint. OH and if anyone wants to know what mods i had on at the time...cai, test pipe, headers. Good luck to all of you.

Just get the recall done. If you have any problems... then complain. If you don't then that's even better. I had no problems after getting it done on my 04 ES.

i got that through mail from mitsubishi but read it had my fiancee's father read it and check on it at his work and said i didnt need it that my car is running just fine the way it is...and by the way he works as one of the head mechanic at ford in my town. but i still say it depends on your car mine is just one of many and some other 05's might need it while others may not....

a recall is a recall ... if your getting headers than forget it ... is it NEEDED of course not ... but they put out a recall for a reason ... might as well get it done ... i got mine on my 05 oz rally ... no problems at all ... if there are then bring it back and complain ... done

the thing about bringing it back and complaining is that i do not have any mods at the moment. If i get mods, then problems come, then i bring it back, they will probly blame it on my mods.

the Recall is for cat warm up time to pass emissions faster. i had it flashed, got an rpm hang 1 of 10 with problems... i think 7 of the reflash issues happened in ohio. the looked at my rpm said i had random low idle like in some 02-03s, and replaced my ecu which didn't seem to cure the problem but i haven't had trouble with it so no harm done... i'd say just get it done, if there is a hang, have the throttle plate cleaned.
