typhoon intake question

so i've searched the forums about typhoon air intakes and i've seen many posts and threads with complaints about the K&N typhoon air intake for the EVOlution models. I was wondering if the intake for the regular ES model was any good? does anyone have one? or does this one have problems too? help a brother out lol

The Evo Models have had problems with theirs yes, but the intake works great on the U.S. Lancer, definatly one of the best intakes on the market for our cars.

Really can't go wrong with sri's, but I've only heard about problems with the WeaponR foam filter sri... Other than that, anything will work.

I have my K&N and it works great! Although I ended up just using the filter and the adaptor, I ended up using the stock tube b/c it put the location of the filter not so close to the engine and the exhaust manifold.

I have the K&N intake...I really like it! It comes out in a different area than other intakes. It comes out on the side of the battery. It basically follows the area of the stock assembly, not behind the battery.

As far as I know, all the K&N filters come pre-oiled. They are re-useable and washable. I fact, I just cleaned my K&N from the RMR heat shielded kit and it looks great. The "gold cap" is the cruise control unit or solenoid...whatever you want to call it.

I would've bought the K&N, but I couldn't get a good price on it when I was in the market.

I shopped around when I was buying my intake. The cheapest place I saw it for was Crutchfield, I believe...around $180? It was cheaper than what was selling on ebay at the time, but I ended up getting my springs on ebay. All of the K&N filters I've gotten (the SRI and drop in filters) are preoiled. I bought the "recharger" kit to wash it, but haven't used it yet...I believe it comes with stuff to oil it after washing.

haha...I guess now I know what that gold cap is for! lol...yea I have cruise control, so that must be it.

It's interesting to see a lot of people automatically type "his"....hehe.

It's probably because I don't have any pink on my car! lol...I'm not a girly girl, so I don't really like pink....making it like a dude's car! hehe..I like it better that way. No underestimating!
