As for Mivec swap, it would have been cost effective to buy a Ralliart.

when you say mivec swap are u sayin that you want the ralliart motor?
i dont think anyone's done that yet...can ne one confirm that?
and most likely that'll cost a pretty penny
if anything...to get a pleasing amount of power out of it you'd need to go turbo

for a n/a build up....all bolt ons, piggy back, and pully i guess. thats all i can really say. dont expect too much from it though

im not really looking to get crazy power from it. i just dont want it to be the slowest car on the road anymore. i am hoping these mods will let me have a little more fun with the car.

Thumbs down hopes & dreams....

God knows I love my Lancers, but since i've had it. I've learned its ALL looks. A N/A lancer modded to hell is just as slow as a stock one. Its to the point to where i think its the most under-powered car on the market. (Could be wrong.)

I've been driving a Rental COBALT (2.2 DOHC, 155 HP /w Ecotec). Damn thing would out run my lancer any day of the week. I'm sorry but that alone makes it a total waste of cash to mod the 4g94. --Just my .02 cents.

there is no easy switch on the piggy but I thought the new piggy alowd you to run lower octane?!? someone can comfirm this.

Unless you go all out N/a with pistons, rods, etc etc all you will get is some throttle response and sound basically. If you like the lancer stick with it and go N/A with mods that would work with turbo and later down the road peice a kit together..it would be cheaper. If your not in love with the lancer. get a different car.

The only reason I mod my FWD auto 4 door sluch box is because I love the thing...... If I didnt love it I woulda trashed it allready.... haha.. you gotta decide that I guess. Hope my opinion helps some mabey,.

Nope cant turn it off... hell i got the v.2 Piggy(req. 89 Octane) back and it through CELL. (great 600bucks there). But then again i could get it fixed if i wanted to take it off & send it to CA.

I have RRM Pully, Header & ECU & SRI and it made it run like it should of off showroom.

Despite what people say there is indeed potential in an NA lancer, you just have to invest the money. If you did everything, all the bolt ons (intake, exhaust, header, TB, IM, fuel rail, pulley) and all the engine work (port and polished head, new cam, cam gear, high compression pistons) and got a good tune (either reflash, piggyback or standalone) you could make a decent machine. Obviously you won't hit 250 hp like you can turbo, but you certainly wouldn't be slow.

What 'ambystom01' says is true, but then again the cash you drop to make a n/a lancer run "good". U can make ANY other 4 cylinder on the markert run better. Its a sad fact.

And for personal gratification, can anyone name a 4cylinder that suck more then ours? Maybe the 1.5 HF CRX? pushing what... 68hp?. ROFL!!! Still wouldnt drop pinks saying the lancer is faster then even that. (BUST!)

Civics only got the jump in power recently, same with mazdas economy car. We're not as bad as everyone thinks, we were made to be an economy car and we that's exactly what we are. If you want a car that can be a real NA monster, buy a honda. With an engine swap or some just smart modding you can easily get over 200 hp NA out of a honda, especially if you buy a new Si.

I dont agree with this... my car is almost a complete N/A and its not slow as what others think it is... I even beat a scion TC with my car...
And ive drivin also a cobalt before and I am sure I can beat the 155hp engine with my N/A car...

I think its better to have a car who has more power beneath the hood rather than trying to have power by body mods... thats just not right!

sorry but I just can't take what you've said about N/A Lancers

we arent the slowest. I raced one of those kia spectra hatchback things, i think its a spectra5. He was manual and im auto with intake and muffler and i beat him. nearly crapped myself knowing there was another car aside from the geo metro i could beat. Basically, you wont be able to beat any cars that actually want to race. the ones you can beat are the ones that wont race you. the lancer is a horrible money pit. Just for ***** and giggles i'm gonna estimate all NA mods and prices (all store bought, not custom made):
PB ECU-$459 (software added with wideband-add about $330 to ECU)
Intake-$175
Throttle Body-$299
Fuel Rail (only for 02-03)-$89
Intake Manifold-$369
Pistons-$700
Pauter Rods-$800
Port & Polish Head-$1199
Crank Pulley-$99
Cam Gear-$99
Camshaft-$500
Header-$349
Catback-$430 (custom Header back I was quoted $110 with my magnaflow muffler and a high flow cat)

Total is at least $5888, and this doesnt include any of you upgraded fuel injectors, spark plugs, brakes, clutch components, suspension, looks, or even installation (which is usually more than the part itself). And I doubt that entire combo listed wont get you anywhere near 250 hp. I'd say roughly low 200s.
Good luck, keep us updated.
