Spark Plugs
Spark Plugs
What is a good set of plugs for my car I plan to do a mini tune up Plugs oil pcv etc. My car is only getting 20 MPG which sucks my camaro gets 30 MPG exact same driving conditions. Any ideas? The lancer is bone stock.
Do what he says. Unless you have a huge mod list or a turbo, you don't need better plugs. Plugs do a job. Contrary to advertising, they all do the job equally on a normal car - the make a spark.
for all your spark plug needs, read this:

for a unmodified/lightly mod'd car do as DJ said; still with stockers. you don't need anything else.

I have Iridium NGK's in my 03 ES and they run smooth and have helped the gas mileage a little, not much. I know "not much" doesn't really help you. I haven't calculated the miles per gallon, but I can tell you that when I got the car, it could only go about 220 miles between fill ups. Unrelated to the plugs, I got an Injen short ram and that helped a lot, going up to about 260 miles between fill ups. I got the iridium plugs after that and now I average about 275 miles in the city, and 300 miles on the highway. I don't know if this helps any, just some info.
I too had great performance from NGK Iridiums. I replaced them with Autolite at my GF's suggestion, and they developed a problem within 5k miles, which might have been undertightening on my part. According to a mechanic friend of mine, most brands of double platinum should last a long time, although I am finally coming to the conclusion that I can feel the performance difference between those and the iridiums I used to run, and those things went 40k miles with no problems.

I used the NGK BPR8ES because Iridiums were not in stock at the time. I see no problem at my performance and i run 22 psi all day long and 28 psi at many occasions of street racing for 1500 miles now. All in 100 octane gas...
However, when i showed them to 2 Mitsubishi dealers (they both drag race) said that these are crap and inferior to the "Mitsubishi" stock ones...So, what is true? What is the best for the way i use my car so to be safe and most important for how many miles...

Ok i decided I am going to do a full tune up on the car it only has 54k on it but i dont know what has been done in the past so i am going to change the pcv, plugs, belts, oil and do you think i should get new wires? If so who makes a good set. Got the intake in the mail today i ordered it sunday cant wait to put that on. I cant believe they want a engine to breathe through a 1 inch hole.
I went 50 miles on a 1/4 tank of gas today.
All dealers say aftermarket parts are bad I had a dealer tell me my mobil 1 filter was no superior and caused me to spin a bearing on my 3.5 altima. It was bs and they were forced to put a new engine in under warranty.

Between that, an oil change, and some new plugs you should see vast improvement.
