Filling in holes
Filling in holes
I was thinking of removing my front plate, but only if i can fill in the holes by myself.
i know how to paint it and stuff, but is there an easy way to fill in the holes?

home depot sells these rubber grommets that you can fill holes in with, unfortunately the only 2 colors that they make them in is black and white. i was looking at them to fill in the holes on my trunk because i am going to take off my spoiler.

Just the front little screw holes? You can probably just use a toothpick or q-tip to shove some bondo in there, then use touch up paint once you fill it in and smooth it down the right way. It should look decent. I don't know about your front end, but mine has so many rock chips and stuff, you probably wouldn't even notice.
But anyhow, for the trunk holes: Bondo will work, but our trunks are so flimsy, the bondo usually cracks, and if you live in an area like Michigan where you get extreme temp changes, it will crack as well. We did my friend's trunk holes with it, and the bondo held up and looked great for quite a while. (after it was all sanded down and painted of course) Then about 3 months later, it started cracking. =( To do it the right way, you really have to have sheet metal welded back in spot, smoothed out, then painted over. If you want to do it a ghetto rigged way like me, just get a grommet type thing and stick it in the hole. I use a flathead bold and a rubber washer to keep the water out. It works well and sits flush with the trunk, only sticking up about 3mm or 4mm. People don't even really notice it. And hey, it only costs like $3 max..

You searched for Bondo on Google?
Just go to the store and ask the guy!
I'm not terribly picky on primer. It's paint, so as long as you apply it right, whatever you get should be fine.

evercoat makes a good bondo called chromalite.. good stuff.. dries quick and hard and sands easy, for the primer, for little jobs like this i use transtar 2in1.. comes in an arosol can and dryes in about 1/2hr... if you get that primer get the grey, the other colors dont fill the imperfections as well IMO
