Question about the eyelids i got.

They are for a 2003, im not putting them on just yet, but i just checked to see if they fit. They do, but when i lift up the hood, there is a small piece of the eyelid that needs to go inside of the frame, but there is this black rubbery stuff on my car. Do i just take a knife and cut through it and slide the eyelids in there, or is it the wrong size or something?

If you are talking about the stuff inbetween the headlights and the quarter panel, I just cut that because mine wouldn't fit between. Its like a weatherstrip type molding. If you are talking about the stuff attached to the hood that is black rubber, leave that there. It doesn't get in the way. The easiest way to install the eyelids is just to take out your headlights, get some double sided 3M foam tape, stick the eyelids on the lights, cut that little strip of black molding off the quarter panel, then install the headlights with the eyelids applied and painted. (paint them before you stick them on, unless they are CF and you want to leave them like that)

what he said.

The strip attached to the hood will actually help hold the lids down so dont remove that.

So all you do is just paint, cut the black stuff, and use the tape to stick it on? Nothing more?

Oh no, not that, i know not to remove that. Im talking about between the quarter panel and the actual body, there is this black rubbery mold there, looks like it can be easily split with a knife.

Correct. Its one of the easiest installs for the lancer next to a shorty antenna.

Yes.. that is the stuff you cut. First try to gently fit them in there without cutting it.. if it doesn't fit, then trim it to the proper length so the eyelids fit.

Dammit I could have saved 30 seconds and that bald spot on my head from scratching it at the pump from confusion.
