What is arrogant about it? I was asking him to be more specific as to why...I also noted "not trying to sound mean" So he wouldnt take it as a knock. Just was curious as to why. So back off and stop looking for things where they are not.

thanks for the troubleshooting figures bahamut... i'll try them out later today.

earlier today, i resoldered my a/f gauge hoping it might be that. i guess it's not. if i don't figure this out soon, i might just buy a new o2 sensor. any good brands out there?

Mobius, i'm putting this stuff on as sort of a pre-turbo setup. i'd like to get to know my car better as well as not having to buy all sorts of crap later. on top of that i can learn how to tune the car without having to worry about blowing something as do turbo people who don't know how to tune do. this is all in good learning. i'm not really the kind of person to jump into things that quickly either without knowing anything.

a few breakthroughs today. my a/f gauge reads a peak of .80v now that i grounded the gauge to the system ground(pin 13) instead of sensor ground(pin 72). o2 sensor voltage at the ecu peaks at .84v and voltage at the o2 sensor itself peaks at .88v. i guess it'd be good to hook the gauge at the o2 sensor itself once i find a way through the firewall.

should stock voltage readings be between .1x-.88v @ idle?

Idle should peak at .92 or 94 at most. anything higher than .96 will stumble the motor. If it's 1.16, the motor will shut off.

Did you tap into the white wire?

what brand is your a/f gauge? don't know how accurate?

well yes, i did tap into the white wire.

i actually made my a/f gauge and have tested it on other things. the thing that makes me wonder is that voltage at the o2 sensor itself doesn't get past .88v. i've test voltage at the o2 sensor. at the ecu. and then what my gague says. my gauge is only maybe .02 off from the ecu, and then my ecu is about .01 off from the o2 sensor itself. and then the o2 sensor itself doesn't get past .88v at idle even if i rev the motor a bit. i'm suspecting a failing o2 sensor. i'm not to sure yet.

also, i was messing with the safc today. i had correction at 1k go up a little bit at a time to see if i can get voltage to cycle up to .92v. what i found was that it cycles between .2x-.83v up until +43%. after that, it stays at .93v and slowly goes back down to .84v and then goes back up to .93v and repeats. what a strange o2 sensor.

You suspect your O2 sensor. That part is very expensive part from the dealership.

I had a bad O2 sensor, but it threw a code, dropped MPG a bit, and constantly cut power before even close to redline.

I have seen O2 sensor go bad because it doesn't move much.

well i think it's still operational where everything is okay and dandy, but i just can't get the readings that are supposed to be. i dunno, i'm still investigating. maybe the vent for my o2 sensor is clogged. i've also put 45k miles on it in 17 months. i'm still looking into the o2 sensor thing.

Ask your fellow lancer owners on their O2 reading.

Also, when you start adding performance parts to factory performance, the O2 sensor tends to go bad. The local DSM'ers who put enough power (under 350 HP) tends to go through them pretty fast . . . but they mostly looking at knock counts.
