Alright... it's really annoying me that I don't have a trunk light... so I look around for trunk light related posts and registry entries and see that people have (at least by the sound of registry entries) changed their trunk lights to red...

Which leads me to the burning question - does everyone have trunk lights except me? Or have people installed them themselves? I looked under the rear deck and there are two connectors there around the center that are not connected to anything else, so I have to wonder if a light is supposed to be there.

Anyone?

I don't have a trunk light either. Would be nice to have one too!

BRAIN FART: After I wrote this post last night, when I was leaving from my mom's, I had to put stuff in the trunk, when I opened it I do have a trunk light! I don't know what the hell I was thinking!

 

i didnt get one either did they forget to do some of the lancers?

 

Well, recon just IM'd me a bit... he said he has a trunk light, but didn't originally have one. He got his off a wrecked Lancer (he thinks OZ) in a junkyard.

So what's the deal, do a lot of people have them and a lot not? Or is there a pattern? Any way a moderator can add a poll to this that asks yes or no if people have a trunk light?

i would think that all lancer's would have trunk lights...that's odd...maybe take it to the dealer and have them get you one...cause if they have them on some, they SHOULD be on all of em

I have a trunk light /shrug... although if trunk is left open long enough it goes out unless you close reopen it or open a door....

Alright - I called the dealership... specifically the parts deptartment. They looked up my VIN and said it is labeled for having a trunk light. They also seemed to suggest that at least all '03 Lancers should, but they weren't sure. And that's not to say '02s shouldn't, but he didn't look them up.

Then after a little runaround (I'm not a big fan of the customer service skills of my dealership), I got to schedule with the service deptartment to have one installed tomorrow morning.

Woohoo, I'm moving up in the world.

I have a 2002 Oz and I have a trunk light.

 

Mine came with one..........but the one time I opened my trunk and it shorted out....I geeked out, so I closed and opened it again, and it's been fine

 

Sorry I didn't get to report back on this before now, but I wanted a picture. I had a trunk light after all that never had a good bulb in it. So the realization comes to me that I just didn't know what it looked like...

So I've attached a picture now of my trunk light lit up. Perhaps anyone else suspecting that they don't have one can look for this and see if it's just a bulb like mine...
