Performance Parts Review

Everyone who is always asking questions about does this improve this and does that improve that will hopefully get a couple questions answered in this thread. I have NEVER dynoed my car, I am not a proffessional at anything related to cars, and my car isn't highly modified. I am just contributing reviews as I see them.

RRM Lightweight Pulley-

I ordered this $100 part from RRM and had it installed at a local shop for $50. Took them about 45 minutes or so to do. Overall there is not a major horsepower improvement or throttle response improvement. It does allow the car to rev a little quicker into the higher RPMS (aka the area where the lancer power resides, even though it isn't much) so that does help quite a bit actually if you are giving it WOT or close to WOT. Low end was slightly improved but not anything to have a party about. Power increase maybe 1-2whp at WOT but with the ability to tear through the gears quicker.
Custom SRI-

Cost about $50 to build, I installed it myself. IMMEDIATE change in the sound of the engine which is a huge ++++++. Throttle response greatly improved over factory air box. Power increase is noticable throughout the entire powerband. This should be the first performance mod done to every car. Estimated whp is about 4-5.
Magnaflow Axleback Exhaust-
http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/8122/1000367ky6.jpg
Muffler cost about $120, $60 to install including the custom 2" piping. I kept the rest of the exhaust the stock amount. Magnaflow exhaust is an awesome sounding exhaust system. From 3k RPMS and up, the exhaust is very smooth and actually quiets out just a bit. At idle and low RPM's it has the quiet rumble of a V6 or V8. No loss in low end torque except when A/C is on... Don't know if I am losing it but when A/C is on, the power drops significantly. I could be just dreaming though so don't read into that. At high RPM's the exhaust starts helping the car out more than factory by the tune of maybe 1-3 whp. Nothing fancy, but every little bit helps.

I will be adding to this as I continue modifying my lancer. Stuff I have coming up are RRM V2 Piggyback, Magnaflow hi-flow cat, Headers, NGK V-power plugs, NGK Wires, and Front and Rear Anti-Sway bars.

you just majorly triteched. Anyhow, there have been multipule threads on this same subject. You could've just added to an existing thread instead of posting your own. Here are some links:

You should be able to use the search button and find everything you need, if you don't that's when you post a new thread.

use the stock black air tube, get a MAF adapter from Autozone or Ebay, then buy a decent air filter.

bolt it all together, reset your ecu......good to go

here is how I did it. Piping is autozone, couplers is autozone, small breather filter autozone (the autozone stuff is the most expensive) then a MAF adapter for like $10 from a car shop around here and the offbrand filter. If I ever find a K&N for 10-20 bucks used but in awesome condition I might pick it up but I don't think I will notice any gains.
