what the hell is ayc and acd
what the hell is ayc and acd
ok...so which is which. one of those allows u to pick one of 3 settings for snow gravel and something else...and the other does something else that i do not know. what is the difference when u choose snow over gravel...what does the ayc...or acd..whichever controls this...do to the car that makes it better to drive in the corresponding terrain.
I believe the AYC and the ACD work in unison with the driving mode selector. The different modes are basically different maps as to how the AYC and the ACD transfer horsepower or brake horsepower. If you were to use the snow or gravel setting on asphalt I believe the car would understeer in the corner because of how the power is being transfered. Using the right setting on the right surface makes the car feel very neutral. I think someone with an Evo VII though would be more qualified to comment then me. Claudius, Michaelk and evocrazy would probably know a lot more.

AYC = Active Yaw Control
ACD = Active Center Differential
Forgot the ACD. ACD (Active Center Diff) was introduced for choices of
Tarmac/Gravel/Snow like evo_dan said. ACD will work hand-in-hand with the AYC, hence a different Transfer Box & AYC-ECU. It also allows "handbrake turns" to be made without damaging the diffs. ACD is only available for GSR model. Remember that the E7 comes with a stiffer chassis also, which does dramatically improve handling. ACD is a great feature, but I never experienced what it can do.
Anyone tried the different settings? Were they tested on the specific climate, or just to aknowledge the difference between settings? Can it be switched while wheels are rolling?

The link jigga posted pretty much explains how it works. As far as being able to change settings while the wheels are in motion, just push the button no problem. You can tell a difference between the settings The car actually takes off the fastest in the snow setting. I've tried all setting in each of their respective terrains (with the except of snow Okinawa is a tropical Island, but the snow setting is for rainy weather as well). It actually does make a diffrence but if you have ever raced a car before and I don't mean your moms wagon at the Mall parking lot, the AYC feels weird at first because you can't get the car into a natural slide. It wants to correct to soon, so experienced drifters/racers will feel weird at first. For those that have no idea how to drive...then hey it will make you look like a pro. I like the handling of the car but hey I'm all about getting sideways the naturalway. Bye bye AYC hello Cusco LSD. Although it going to suck when I do it b/c of all the other parts that have to change with it. I am now accepting donations cash and credit, no checks!
