Cheap filter ???
Cheap filter ???
Hey guys i recently installed an intake on my 03 es
and i've got quiet a problem with it, the car runs fine while in drive but when i put it in park the rpms start rising and droping up to the point where my car just dies so my question is can it be that the filter i have is a poor quality filter (bomz racing of ebay) and cant handle the heat the way it's mounted cousing the engine 2 choke or could it be something else becasue i see alot of people have the intake mounted the same way with the filter in the same area near the motor ???

If i were u, i would reset the ecu by disconnecting the negative from a battery, and connceting it back after 20-25 mins. By doing this, your car will learn new air flow which will avoid the rpm problems.
I would also look into custom heatshield instead of the one u currently have.
Also K&N filter is a must if you want to maintain your engine. Since u are a n00b, i would give u one advice. Never buy performance parts from ebay unless it is a name brand.

I doubt it's the filter. Reset the ECU and see if that helps. I'm willing to bet the problem fixes itself once the ECU relearns how it breathes with the intake. Generally it's not necessary to do this, but it's not a bad practice to keep up with new mods on a stock ECU.
Well thank u for calling me a noob, but i did reset the ecu more then once and the engine runs fine when i install the stock intake pipe with the same filter witch brings the filter behind the battery and a little farther away from the engine witch is why i think that it is the filter that cant handle the heat when it's near the engine
Nobody called you a noob, but it takes 60-100ish miles for the computer to relearn. The ECU has compensation maps for IAT. It shouldn't cause it to stall. Give the ECU some time to relearn. noob.
So what ur saying is that i should reset it again and just ignore the stalling and after some time it would just go away ? but then how come it works fine with the stock intake pipe different airflow in a different position ?
i would just use the stock intake pipe, get rid of the aluminum one.
The stock pipe works the best anyways, just keep the bomz MAF adapter, then stick a K&N filter on there

Alright thanks the stock pipe is actualy what i'm running now i was just curious what could be cousing the engine 2 choke the only thing i could think of is it beeing closer 2 the engine and heating up more but i've seen alot of pics on this forum of people running intakes that close 2 the engine
Unless the filter is a complete pile of ****, it's probably just the ECU learning. Honestly, I'm just trying to save you from spending more money. Again, the ECU compensates for IAT. The car will idle on a 120 degree day for hours, so I doubt heat alone is/was the issue. I ran w/ a makeshift short ram with a cone filter in the same spot for several months, never once having a problem.
Is the MAS backwards...? When I installed my intake last week I had the MAS backwards and my car was dying if I had it in park, after I flipped it so air was going through it in the right direction it worked like a charm.
