need quick answer: replacing header

Does the header need a gasket on the top and bottom? I know the top is needed of course, but the bottom of the OEM header didn't have a gasket on it when i removed it, but it looks slightly different than the bottom of the RRM header. I thought maybe theres a gasket stuck onto it it that i need to remove and use with the new header. Thanks

You always need a gasket for all your exhaust connection. It probably didn't look like there was one because it been dissentegrated. So, yes, yes you need both gaskets.

You definetely need a gasket, otherwise you will have a serious exhaust leak.

You can get the gasket that connect your header to your downpipe at the dealer. I just bought one about 2 weeks ago for like $8...ask for the gasket that connects the header to the downpipe for an 02 lancer or a 99 mirage, either will work.

Thanks guys, I basically had to peal the old gasket off the stock header to use it until i can make it to a dealership to buy new gaskets. The install went pretty smoothly and the car feels great. Only problem is my check engine light came on so I'm planning on buying that small extension for the o2 senser that i believe rrm sells.

No need to buy anything from a vendor and pay shipping costs. Check out this "How-To" using some anti-foulers you can pick up at any local harward store.

I've been using those now for almost two years and I still have no CEL

Just reuse the stock gaskets. You need gaskets on both ends. AS for antfoulers, they are the same as a CEL eliminator we sell except you do not have to drill out our CEL eliminators like you do antifoulers. ANtifoulers are made for a sparkplug. O2 Sensor is longer and wider.
