Help Please Warm-up Cat Problems.
Help Please Warm-up Cat Problems.
I found out that my high idle is probably caused by my faulty warm up cat. A lot of Lancer Es' out there have had pcm recalls for their cat. I think the previous owner waited too long and I'm getting check engine lights all the time for my pre cat. It costs around 500-1000 to get a new one. Which will mean I'll have to have the headers too along w/the cat. A huge hassel. I should just put headers on my car. Will the cel eliminator rrm sells for the pre cat fix this check engine light? And therefore my idle will be better b/c my car isn't trying to warm up a cat that is broken. (that's why your car idles high a lot of the time by the way). Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well your car idles high to get your cat to operating temp. So since my cat is f'ed up it makes sense that the idles way off. I even talked to a mitsubishi mechanic and he said it's likely to be that. Will the cel eliminator take off my check engine light? tricking my engine to thinking the cat is "warmed up"
dude amby by the way. This is a problem that could cost me 1000 and right now I have a water leak in my car too and I can't figure out what's wrong w/it. "I don't think so" doesn't really help me at all dude. If you don't wanna elaborate you're not going to be any help to me. This is a forum, I ask questions to ppl that know better than I do. If you know better and want to help. Please help.
No this is not the same cel as what the cel fix solves, this cel is a real problem. The easiest solution is to simply replace the stock manifold with a header, voila. You asked whether the cel fix would solve your problem, I answered "I don't think so", what's the damn problem with that answer? Not everything in life needs a 5 page thread like last time.

If I replace the stock header with a header than viola I'll have another cel right? There's only one thing connected to the stock cat right? the oxygen sensor? If I bypass that with a cel eliminator than I should trick my ecu into thinking that my warm up cat is doing fine? right? How will replacing the stock header fix it? thx
why dont you just get your cat fixed? It has an 70K mile manufacturers warranty on it. That would be a much easier way to fix the problem. Plus it's free......but most importantly the problem is fixed.

I wish I could bro. But I bought my car with a salvage title. They won't touch it even though nothing touched the exhaust system. Just motor companies trying to walk away from responsibility. So what do you all think? will the cel eliminator fix my check engine light for the warm up cat. I don't care to fix the warm up cat. As long as exhaust passes through at this point I don't care. But will the cel go away and will my computer think things are fine? thanks
Ok I will talk slowly and use small words so that you will understand me.
1. Buying the cel fix will not work, this problem is related to something other than what the cel fix fixes.
2. If you don't want to buy a new exhaust manifold or pick one up at a junkyard, buy a header.
3. Stop asking the same question over and over again after you have already been given the answer.
4. Learn how to read if number 3 continues to remain a problem.

Hey
DUDE I KNOW THAT THE cel eliminator won't fix my freakin cat converter. It's broken. That's not the point. If I take out the oxygen sensor in the cat (HOW MY ENGINE DECIDES IF THE CAT IS DOING A GOOD JOB) and then i put that CEL ELIMINATOR on. I shouldn't have a check engine light, right? I don't see where else the sensor could be coming from sense my cat is the one that is faulty.
It's not like MY CAR IS PSYCHIC and will go oh dang. the cats messed up even though I don't even have a sensor in the cat. hmmm. something must be wrong. It'll go. Hmm everything seems to be going fine even though everythings f'd up right?
well saying as you cant get it fixed. I would get a new header. Someone has a header + downpipe for sale on here for $200.
even if you got rid of the CEL it still wouldn't be fixing the problem. If you get headers it will eliminate the cat, which would get rid of your problem.
Your best option is either to get the cat converter replaced, or get new headers.

God dammit newb, learn how to fu<king read and learn how to fu<king listen. I have told you twice already that the CEL eliminator will not fix your problem. Do you need to be told a third time? The CEL eliminator will not fix your problem. If you are having idle issues you are not throwing the same code as is produced by the addition of a header, you have a real problem. The CEL eliminator is designed to get rid of the code thrown by the header. Now basic logic dictates that if you are not throwing the same code as is produced by the header, the fix for the header code will not work in your situation. The easiest way to solve it is to get a header. There done, close this god forsaken thread please. I am seriously wondering now whether you are A. mentally handicapped in some way, B. suffering from a learning disability, C. horrible at basic reading comprehension or D. genuinely fu<king stupid.
ABBY the mechanic said the freakin cat can cause the idle and the check engine light problem. AND there is only one check engine dode. It makes perfect sense. Using the cat eliminator will pretty much digitally get rid of any reading from my cat? therefore it should make my computer stop trying to make my engine idle high to warm up a cat. Does this logic not make sense? I don't get where your going.
