I may be in the minority, but I feel I can see the road alot better with my low beams, than my high beams. Which is unusual, because all of my other cars, this wasnt the case. Maybe the Lancer just has a really good low beam design?

well good thing about newer HID kits is that for single bulb cars they may have the lo/hi beam type..so you don't lose your high beams....it's pretty much just a shield that reflects for lo or hi beam

the lancer lights are bright in the low beam which may be sufficient for city/town/highway driving. But for us like amby and I, on country roads with no street lights at night is pitch black and with the danger of deer, mouse and other types of animals running in front of you it helps to see farther ahead then just lighting up the road in front of you.

Highbeams decrease the light put in 1 given area because they disperse the light farther ahead. Its not actually getting brighter.. cars headlights need to be cleaned and adjusted over time. the low beams on your other cars may have been to low so you needed highbeams to compensate for the bad adjustment on them.

I bet you if you still have the original receipt and call Sylvania they'll send you a new pair for free... I had a pre-mature low beam filment break and I called customer service. Great service and replacement SET ! Only goods things to say about my current Silverstars. They've lasted through 2 accidents and are still running strong...

did you just say you have to look out for mice running out in front of you?

You could be right about the other cars headlight design. I was thinking that the Lancer may have a higher low beam dispersion pattern than others, so it still covers a good distance while also providing good wide-dispersion.

as far as the cheaper bulbs go on ebay... ive heard multiple horror stories of those things burning thru the wiring harness... with lancers and with many other cars, such as my last bmw 3 series... and i can tell you from experience, they're not DOT approved for a reason = they suck, you sacrifice practicallity and basically an unsafe low beam that barely lights up the road in front of you to have a bluish wannabe look.... silverstars at least are backed by a reputable company... same thing with PIAA, Polarg and Raybrig... and i find they thorougly light up the road... and im in east bum **** texas w/o many street lights

I was thinking about rolling the dice and getting some ebay prjectors for the 04. That HID price is pretty tempting. If I get the projectors should I look at the bulb size to see if the HIDs will fit? I know the nightevolution projectors are HID friendly, but i want to hear what everyone says before i do that

What kind of mice do you guys have up there that you need to see them way ahead of time? (yes i know what you meant)

Seriously though, Everyone who finds themselves constantly using high beams in any kind of populated area should go see the thread on headlamp alignment. its very important not only for you, but because you could be shining your lights right in other drivers, faces without even knowing it. and especially if you are thinking about HID you should definitely align them because you will cause a frontal collision with them they are very bright when viewed directly.

Sorry to hear about the bimmer . I thought that the performance of the silverstars was acceptable. I was referring more to the longevity vs cost of those bulbs. For what your paying, they just dont last very long.

ummmm. I only use my high beams on the country roads with no street lights. also, when car comes i flick them off. I do it so often its habit. I also shut them off around corners just encase a car comes. I live in the country to I usually drive on these kind of roads.
the town I live in and the surrounding towns arnt highly populated. to give you an idea. There arnt even tv cables on the poles.. You -have- to have satelite.

haha... I ment Moose... just noticed my screwed up spelling... musta been drunk.

i just realized that i have a brand new pack of sylvania silverstars in my room. for a 1994 nissan sentra. . . pretty useless now since i trade that car in on my lancer. . . anybody want them?
