Has anyone ever drove 13 hrs?
okay so after xmas i plan on going to florida. obviously plane tickets are up the sky. correct me if im wrong but our lancer gets about 27 mpg city / 34 mpg highway. i mapquested going to florida and it was about 875 miles away. how much do you think im going to need to for gas if prices around 2.25 2.50?
i drive from ft hood to miami its about 1300 miles i think. my evo was getting just over 300 miles to the tank i filled up 5 times (including the tank i left on) got to miami with like half a tankish. hope this helps. as for the math, well good luck with that, i have a 13 gallon tank and use 93.
I gotta figure you'll get nearly 400 miles per tank of gas. Tank of gas is around $30. Figure $180 just to be safe (just over 2 tanks each way, and some to drive around).
Sound reasonable? I never spend that much going the 800 miles from Ohio to OBX, so you should be fine.

well thats interesting your thread title doesnt match your topic......
anyway i drove 12 hours 59 minutes once, but not 13 hours so i dont really have an opinion...
jk, i did boston to virginia before, 16 hours with stops, its a longgggggggg drive
keep in mind too, you just wont have the gas expense. THere is always the wear and tear on your vehicle, all those miles, etc.
Just rent a car and use that.

i do the wisconsin to DC drive several times a year. it is not too bad at all, less than 3 tanks of gas and i'm there (1,000 miles). it is about 17 hours
just change your oil before or after depending on when you last changed it. also clean your aif filter, wash your car, and make sure your maintenance is up to date. every little bit helps for mileage!

I drove my Evo from St. Louis to Florida (Destin). It was about 9.5 Hours. BTW I was going 90 MPH almost the whole way. I only stop for gas and slowed down when the radar goes off. I was getting 22 MPG @ 90mph, Tach was @ 4000 RPMS. I did get an oil change rigt before I left.

Phila to Orlando. 1000.4 mi to the condo. 14hrs. through most of North and South Carolina i was averaging 37mpg. It makes sense for me to drive down instead of flying and renting a car.
I just moved to Orlando from Cleveland a few months ago. It's about 1,000mi. If you are taking I95S down I'm not sure what the speed limit is, I took I77S to I27W to I95S to I4W, The speed limit is 70mph on those highways most of the way. It took me about 17hrs. I drove it twice, once for each car, and it took close to six tanks each time, but thats because I was driving about 80-85mph. You don't get very good gas mileage at that speed. RPM's are over 3000 the whole time, but what a fun drive, especially through WV with all the curves. So anyway, if you go 65, give or take, and depending on where you are going in Florida, it's gonna take you just over 2 tanks or 2 1/2. If you are haulin on the roads I mentioned, it's easily gonna take you 3 or more.

I head down south to North Carolina every year... it's about a good 9 or 10 hr drive. Sometimes it'll even extend to about 13hrs.
2 full tanks of gas. I tank in Jersey and then refill somewhere in VA.

Just take it easy in VA on 95S. Ive had two court days down there for speeding (they called it reckless driving). Stick to the speed limit in VA then haul *** in NC and SC. The cops down there dont even look at you unless your in the triple digits. From my experience anyway.
