The V1 is good.

But the Beltronics STI is by far the best. The Rx65 is a close 2nd, but detectable.

The display is mounted where the clock used to be (I'll post a picture this weekend).

The radar detector unit is mounted to the plastic floor pan just under and to the center by the license plate.

I get lengthy warnings on oncoming cops both stationary and driving in the other direction and always have plenty of time to 'ease' off if it is called for.

The display and the unit are wireless, I've heard horror stories about interference, but mine has worked flawlessly since I got it.

I had the wired one on my Scion for 18months before I got the Evo, and I haven't noticed a difference since I went wireless.

Install was maybe an hour and that was including going 'stealth' with the clock mounted display.

IMHO:

- I got one because I get the feeling that XXXmph over the limit in many cars is "OK" with cops, but in Evo's it is not (this after seeing a yellow corvette getting pulled over for about 58 in a 50 zone just the other day).

- Get one that isn't stuck in the middle of your window, cops can see them and they make you even more or a target. A state trooper I used to drink with, said that any sign of a radar detector meant a potential warning would always become a ticket.

Highly recommended.

 

The whistler I have also has this, Pop seems to be popular in NJ for actual speed traps outside of that the cops all seem to drive around with everything on all the time. 99% of the time I'm very aware of a cop going the other way, a long time before I see them.

if you get cordless you will have no power, therefore no range

the STI is for the driver that wants pure customizing and the RX65 is programmed perfect by the company

all radars have KA band now

 

Wont be okay when your Solo is in its power saving mode and there is a speed trap around the corner.

Lol.... Power saving mode.... you wont have it on that... theyre are three diffrent modes... and FYI... you can buy a cord... or a plug directly to ur battery ect. so u dont have to have the cord... Its easy... very portable if you have more than 1 car... so far... its great!
