I replaced my passport 8500 x50 a month ago with a V1. I wouldn't want to switch back, the V1's arrows are awesome.

I bought the Escort Passport 8500 radar and I don't know if it's all that good?

I headed down south towards NC and it wouldn't detect anything. Well, atleast in Virginia? It didn't detect one cop using a radar and I even flew right by one and nada. It would only go crazy in PA and JErsey where they had alot of construction and speed detectors at the sites.

I'm returning this thing...

The point of the comment is that I always hear that the State of Virginia is the most trooper infested state. My passport 8500 wouldn't go off in that state at all. Is there something in the settings I need to change? Might I have a defective one or something? Could it be that VA cops are using state of the art equipment that my radar can't detect?

I couldn't tell you that...perhaps there weren't any cops where you were that day. I've driven through VA a few times but I always take my detector down and just cruise.

cops are rarely seen down here in NC, you will prolly be lucky to see one every 100 miles on most highways, I40 is about the only highway they are heavily populated on

I must get really lucky then cause the only place I've seen cops on I-40 is between Raleigh and Durham. I take 40 from G'boro to East TN quite often and almost never see one.

yeah but just today i was going 30 on a 2 lane road near the time school gets out, so the speed limit is 5 down from 25 and there's a cop sitting there with his gun, i was going with the traffic so he didn't bother me, we all go over the limit at times

i will look around on the sellers page on ebay see if there's anything suspicious, then i'll buy one

YEA, I was in Charlotte, NC and it's really rare to see cops. If you do, they're probably pumping gas or eating donuts somewhere. lol..funny but true.

But they sure do have some good hiding places !

Yes they do and if you're driving east on I-74 (more like US74) beware of a modded Civic. The Sheriffs Dept. has one that they use to catch speeders with. He followed me this summer just outside of Charlotte and radioed a marked car to pull me over. Didn't get a ticket luckily but be warned!
