Yep, if I remember right (it was a couple years ago) it was split like that. It was like the kid tried to pull of a Nismo style badge, Like on the S-tune and Z-tune GTR's and Z's, only horribly executed. I think there was a bunch of other things wrong with that car, but the letter thing really disgusted me. I felt embarassed and ashamed a little for about a week after that, knowing that someone was driving around in a Lancer that was that bad. It temporarily ruined my car for me, but eventually I got over it. I'm surprised I didn't need therapy, well for that anyways.

I agree with just about everyone that untastefully riced out cars are pointless. My lancer only has a "fartcan" muffler because i got it for free but i can say it has a lot nicer tone to it than all those civics with "fartcan" mufflers. I'm not a huge fan of stickers all over the car and i dont know if this goes with performance mods but posting stickers of your sound system comapies is just advertising to the thiefs to what they can get from your car. Just my $0.02 worth.

I have a big feeling that the next-gen lancers will be the next civics

You might have a point there. Because of the fact that the Lancer and Evo will share the same engine. As long as the differences on the 4b11 between the Lancer and the Evo are not severe parts swapping will become the next big thing instead of engine swapping.

Imagine, instead of the popular topic being how you swapped a b18c1 into your EG or a EJ255 into an old 2.5rs it could be all the lancers running around with 250+hp from simple part swaps. It'd make for interesting conversation i think.

it'll probably be nicer though. i mean really, how many of us wish our engine parts where interchangeable with the evo. I don't think our cars will ever get as bad as civic, i think you may see more lancer tunning going on, which is what we want, as this will open up for aftermarket parts.
I doubt there will be nearly as many riced out lancer's as civics. The lancer has a way better reputation than the civic because of the evo, so most of the type of people who rice out civics won't think to go rice out a lancer, its the same reason you don't see many riced out subaru's, or mazda's around
When teenagers think of a first car to get and mess about with, the first thing they think is "civic". Then when you get the more mature tuners, and they want to modify a car, they will be going for the lancer, subaru's etc.
So i think things will start getting better for the lancer, i think this new model will probably put us in a different class of car than the civic, more with the mazda 3's, if you get my drift

I was thinkin of more like the WRX and Mazdaspeed Protage(sp). The ability to go out and smack around SRT-4 and Cobalt SS Supercharged owners is my hope. Hell maybe even run with the local MR2 nuts.

There are definitely many riced-out cars where I live, but surprisingly enough, I've only seen one horrible looking lancer around here. It definitely is the honda crew making it look bad for everyone around here. Usually whenever I drive around with my group of friends, we stand out and looks all the time. We actually won't associate with anyone that has poor taste in their modifications. The only people that give us any kind of problems are the guys around here with muscle cars.

I agree with Justindc. I have personaly seen some pretty sweet civics out there that are serious about modding now just slapping a few stickers here and there, a big wing, maybe throw in some fake calipers and be done with it.

Man, i live near Joplin, MO and all i see around here are riced out Neons, Probes, Saturns, and those stupid pontiacs. i beleave there are only 2 lancers in joplin and only one is moded with nice rims and tent, very clean. Surprsingly it seems Wrx's are becoming Really popular, there are about 8 of them in joplin. I've only seen 2 evos in my life, one in Livermore, CA and one in a junk yard in missouri.

There are quite a few lancers in my area, mostly ES or LS. There are only a handful of OZ's, and only about 6 or 7 Evo's.

There are 3 absoloutly hideous lancers, one looks like it got in a wreck and half of the body has been replaced, but it is all different colors, the hood is grey, fenders are red and black, and the rest is white.
Another bad lancer is a riced out one, fart can, fish gill fenders, evo hood, massive chrome rims, and MITSUBISHI written in block letters accross the side.
3rd one is just a nasty body kit with an ugly Evo7 spoiler
