Someone doesn't like me? How will life go on? That's exactly the stupid sh*t I'm sick of. It's getting to be like high school with some of these Evo owners. All I have to say is that people reveal their flaws when they pass judgment on others without knowing them and by judging them on their own shortcomings. I give stuff away at meets...how can I not be liked?

Yeah dont worry man. No matter what there will always be someone who hates on you or your car. I have always liked your car. Back when I was pertty much stock and you had that RMR front lip I looked up to your cas as insparation. Anyways your car looks much better now than it did back when I only used cardomain.

 

I looked at your car bro dont even listen to **** talkers in these forums! i like how you did your system looks real good nice job! everything else is very clean lookin! ive been bashed before also with my car but ive even had some evo owners that say my car looks alot better than theres!!! but keep on doing what you do

 

like has been said. I think most of us lancer guys on here have got a few posts or even pm's from evo haters. If a car is porely done and you are asking for opinion, thats one thing. But your ride is well done and for somebody that just feels the need to knock the ride is pointless.

To the @55 bag who's talking crap, heres a history lesson for you The lancer has been around since 1973 (1975 in the U.S. under another name but never the less a lancer), The EVO on the other hand has only been around since 1992 (2003 in the U.S.) Also the Lancer is not base off the evo it the other way around the EVO is base off of the LANCER, even today. So the next time anyone of the Lancer haters bashes on you they can keep there damn mouth shut.

I didn't read the whole tread cause i'm tired as all hell see, reading and hearing about how lancers are copy off the EVO and the EVO is the best. Now sure I would LOVE to have an EVO because of of many reasons and there are many reasons as to why I don't have an EVO one of them is because I love my Lancer I won't give it up for the world.

 

Dude, don't worry about it too much. I go to UTI here in Sacramento, so everyone here is pretty much an automotive enthusiast. One of the teachers drives a white Evo and I drive my white Lancer with the VII front end. Some kid was talking to me about how he sees a wannabe Evo in the parking lot everyday and started saying how if someone wanted an Evo they should just buy an Evo and not make their car look like an Evo. Went on about how the kid is a poser and he was like "don't you think people like that should just buy the car that they want and not some cheap version of it and make it look like the car they want?!" I replied "No, dude, because I can't afford it." He just walked away hella fast, and hasn't said a word to me since.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that people are always gonna talk smack without knowing the reasoning behind what other people do.

 

wow if someone's busting your ***** about your lancer (witch is pretty dam nice by the way) image what they'd say about the cat in the automatic cavalier with the autozone muffler, and 2 foot aluminum spoiler in the next lane.

 

i have a 02 OZ and yeah ok it doesnt have the power but you know what i think that what makes my car fun. the challenge it brings and that it isnt just liek a civic and i can just drop and w/e engine and think im hot ****. i know my place but i can still have fuin with my lancer and thats all your doing. thats one thing i think we all can hate, people who think they are hot **** just cuz they own an evo or STI. dont get me wrong i know some who are way chill but there are some that think they are hot **** and own everyone else.

 

I don't want to talk too much crap, because I too remember the days of being 20. It took me a LOT of hard work and heartache before I was able to get one, and now it's all about keeping it --face it, for hardworking middle classers, the 30k+ price tag can be a lot more than it seems.

That said, let me play devil's advocate for a moment.

The ride looks surprisingly clean, but clearly you've gone out of your way to make it look like an Evo. That tends to set a lot of people off, because rather than making your car look original, you're making it look like something it isn't. True or not, that gives the impression you want to trick people into thinking you have something when you really don't.

Again, I'm not saying that's what you mean to do, but it's the impression a lot of people get. If my money was going into anything, I'd put it towards making your Lancer far more powerful. Now THAT would surprise a lot of people.

 

Rane- You make a good point. Some people like me simply like the look of evo parts. It is one of my favorite cars and thats why I do have the evo VIII wing on my lancer. If the evo VIII style wing came on a Tibby I would still put it on my car because I love the wing. That doesnt meen im trying to make my car look like a tibby. I simply like the style. People that cant tell the difference need to take a look at the hobby they are into.... someone in the car hobby (especially import) that cant tell the difference between a evo and a lancer es,ls,oz has issues.

Same goes for other parts of the car, especially since the lancer aftermarket is based on evo, ralliart styling.

D00d. You're car looks a lot better than mine! It all seems put together well. I got a stock black 05 es. The only mod you can see is the giant Cannon muffler (greddy) from RRM. I want to tint my windows, so I won't be embarrassed when people see my added guages! (most of my mods now, and for the next coupla years, will be under the hood, not looks).


My car looks like every dumb$$$ in town with the same $35 straight-muffler from pep boys welded on the back of it. On the other hand, that's good sometimes when people don't know I got the headers, bigger exhaust, etc. etc. The roads are pretty bad right now, but I haven't found a 4banger in town yet (i got here 4 months ago) I can't beat - almost easily. Then again, I'm in a podunk town in MN. And, I ramble, sorry again.


Your car looks sweet. As long as it makes you happy, that's all that matters. And props to you for being so young and doing it all on yer own . I can't say I paid for my own college, I had a lot of help from the folks/govt.

hey i want to get IX heads and tails. does that make me a poser for wanting to make my VIII looklike a IX. what about all the jdm bumpers or jdm MR heads and tails everyone gets. are they posers too? or do they want those items because they think they look good. i am thinking about putting a IX front bumper on mine. i dont think i am trying to look like a IX. i just like my car and think it looks better than anything else i have seen.

that was the point I was trying to make. well put.

 

In a way it does, but in this case we're talking about a car being done up in a way to give the appearance of a completely different vehicle.

Ultimately it all comes down to what you like and what you can afford. A lot of folks leave that second part out, but this is reality; if we could all have Aston Martin's we would, or at least I would.

Personally, I'd love to see a humble Lancer done up with performance mods, but then again, I also understand the love people have for their rides, and for making them stand out. I had an '03 Tibby myself, done up with i/e (woo! 7hp! lol) and blue neon all over. Yep, blue neon. Go ahead, talk smack, I loved it and don't care what anyone says. I wired it all up, had it clean as hell, and got lots of compliments.

So ultimately, if you love what you've done and others appreciate it, then kick ***! As a personal recommendation, coming from a not-quite-so humble opinion, I'd reconsider the identity crisis. You've done a lot already, but now I would focus on putting a bit more power under the hood. That way, should anyone talk crap, you have a lot more to back it up with.

Cause when I bought my car I really didnt care if it was super fast. If I did care I would have gotten a different car.

I am about to purchase a cf grill and finish off my body kit within the next 2 months. I got my 18's back on....does that make me a poser, making my car look fast?? I dont think so, I am not trying to make it look fast or like an evo.....I am simply improving the overall look of the car. I have a few friends with B16 hondas (2 with type R's) and do they make fun of me?? No...if anything they give me props for fixing up a car that not many people (other than 60 year old women) try to pimp.

Another thing...about this you look like an evo cause you have the wing and front bumper....

The evo front end conversion looks very good on our cars and the wing is a direct good looking swap

Its either the evo front or the Ken style (the one I have) and not everyone likes the k style.

So people say "why didnt you get an evo?"..........."Well ***** ***ka its hard to afford a $30k car and $300 a month insuance when you make $9.00 an hour working your way through college".

And to end my little rant.....I say to all you hating evo owners FUC& YOU!!
