. . . sadly the bottom line is intolerance. there will ALWAYS be small minded, ignorant, intollerant moron in the world who would rather say something hateful then give someone some credit on a job well done (that they probably couldnt have done themselves) The world would be better off without people like this but to try and get rid of them would make you just as bad as they are. i never meant to say i wanted my VIII to look like a IX. what my hole post was supposed to mean is that i want the IX heads and tails because i like the black better than chrome. thats it personal preference.

just do what u think looks good. and everyday when u look at ur car and go dam that looks tight, then u know u are doing the right things. isn't that the point, make something that we like and give ourselves a little bit of happiness in this crappy world?

im pretty sure that dumbass is just angry because hes paying 3 times what we paid for our Lancers.. like i always say.. why buy a stock evo when you can buy a lancer and build your OWN evo.. lmao..

I think it's obvious that whomever the tool was that PMed you doesn't have the ***** to stand up and say it was him. It's also clear that he has some issues with a economy car looking better than or on par with his Evo.

When it comes down to it, all that matters is what you put into your car and that you like it at the end of the day. And just to add to the others, your car looks good man. Keep it up.

I have to disagree with that statement, and I own a base lancer as well. That is the kind of mentality that really pisses evo owners off... even the cool ones. Fact of the matter is that you CANNOT turn a lancer into an evo. Sure you can turbo it and make it push 300 whp but keep in mind that the lancer is still FWD while the evo is putting 300 whp in an AWD drivetrain. To convert a stock lancer to AWD and reinforce the engine enough to push 300whp down through that would cost more than a stock evo.

My point is comparing Lancers and Evos are like comparing apples and oranges. Although the Evo is based off the Lancer platform, there are so many differences that sets them apart.

For sure, I normally cant stand look alike/act alike lancers trying to be EVO's I think its silly why make a car some thing its not?? You pay 5k for a used base lancer, 1k or more on engine upgrades to handle the turbo, 4k for a turbo kit, few hundred to stiffen the frame with welding, 1k for suspension, 3-4k for body kit/hood and real evo wing, 1-2k on rims. But have no AWD, loose and weak body/suspension, and put down maybe on a high reading dyno 300 Front whp or so. When you can get a 03 EVO used from stock condition to a ton of mods for $17,000+ (I have seen them cheaper)
Base Lancers are good cars thats not my point, and the poster of this threads car looks GREAT But never think a modded lancer can be anything near a evo or subie it just is a physical impossibility, just like a evo isent a ZO6 or a REAL supercar (yes us evo owners think our cars are equal to such cars much MUCH too often) It is just a powerful, cheap, fun econobox thats it.

 

I'm trying to be one of the "cool ones" that doesn't hate anyone else's ride, but you've definitely got a point. My argument when I owned my last car was that I could easily build it up and beat the Evos out there. Truth was, even if I did put in all that money for performance mods, it would still be a FWD vehicle with horrible torque steer.

I'm in no way pissed off when someone tries to make their Lancer look like an Evo, I just question why they do it. I've seen Civics with BMW badging, and worse still, the owners insist it IS a BMW, just because they've made a few visual changes. Face it, it's NOT a BMW and never will be. So instead of trying to turn it into something it isn't, celebrate what it is and make it look nice, and handle a lot better.

the money was not a problem in my case..but why would i want a supercar evo with insurance rates higher than my car payment, you can only safely sneak 15mph over most speed limits anyway, there is no autobahn to drive on here in US so why have a monster car you're constantly holding back and jerking thru the gears stop light to stop light?...with an ra you have the evo inspiration, great handling, excellent power/acceleration, and if u want, can mod it out to look and run as good as anything with 1/2 the $$ and ins.....seems like a no-brainer..its all mistu dude..tell the haters to go to the honda or nissan sites and rag them...i bet most evo owners can only finacially keep their rides a year or two anyway before they have to sell..LMAO...love my ra and proud of it, get compliments from dudes all the time..ur ride looks great..keep rockin

 

Whoa there, chief. While I totally agree with your enthusiasm for telling him to ignore the haters, be careful that you aren't being a hater yourself. Just because our Evos cost more, that doesn't mean we can't afford them any more or less than other people who buy cars in the same price range.
