A bunch of B.S.
The Lancer that is in the US right now is junk. With around 120hp it sould be lucky to get out of its own way. Reading the specs on the car would have been enough reason not to buy it. I am a fan of the real car. The one that can be raced. The one where mods making it faster, not like in your case, where the mods make the OZ just not as slow. It must be nice being passed by F-150s and blazers. I could not stand that. I am suprised how anyone could waste any money on such a bad car. Save your money and buy a real car. Better yet, trade it in while someone might still give you money for it.

I wasn't trying to **** anyone off by voicing my opinion. I am simply trying to understand those of you who are interested in the base Lancer. I could not ever buy a car like that. I am just getting involved in Japanese cars due to my interest in the evolution VII. I would simply like to add it to my collection. I did not mean to insult anyone. I think it is unfair of Mitsubishi to send over the weaker version right before the good version comes over. It seems like bad marketing I feel that people are being taken advantage of. The car will probably be discontinued in a year anyway when everyone only buys the evolution.

18000 vs 36000....u do the math....or are the Benjamins covering your face too much that your too dumb to realize that a 17 year old kid cant afford a 36,000 veichle? I would have bought an evo if i COULD...but I CANT....so instead of driving a ****vic...i got a lancer.
Why didn't you want to go for a used car. I see very nice cars go through the dealer auction all the time for less than what you paid. You could have been driving a tweaked eclipse gst with just a little miles on it. There is nothing wrong with that at all. If you went to your local super market and picked up the auto trader you could have seen this. $18000 buys anywhere from a BMW to an Acura Legend. Imagin yourself in one of those and see where I am coming from when I question your purchase of the Lancer.

Diddy: have you even driven a Lancer? Or better yet, a Lancer with some decent mods done to it? I've never been passed by an F-150, Blazer, or anything else that would have embarassed me...
Anyways, it's apparent that you only place high value on a car that can go in a straight line fast. I'd like to see you take whatever car, sans those in an altogether-different price bracket, and maintain 115 mph on the 57 N freeway in Southern California. If you can make it to Fullerton from my house without hitting the brakes on those corners and bends, while keeping that speed, I'll give in and say you're right... that really, you AREN'T a jackass.
But you're sitting here spouting **** because you read some bad reviews and an image of 120 hp bounces in your head. Get a clue.
FWIW - I own a 13 second Talon and haven't once drove it since I picked up the Lancer. Do you realize that things like handling, cornering, ride comfort and the like all factor into one's purchase decision? Or are you really just a jackass? The only desire I have is to rip out the interior and AC on my Talon and see how fast I can really make it go with some more mods... but why? So I can drop another 2gs on it next month when the next thing goes out on it... I'll stick to cruising for right now.
*Imagining myself in an Acura Legend...*
*Vomits on floor mat*
Yeah, I wanna be like everyone else out here... ooo can I please be the one millionth person to drive a BMW in orange county?! PLEASE!??#@! Maybe you could give me a cell phone and I could drive the speed limit in the left lane too? Gimme a break... new car vs. used car that was beat to **** by the 99.9 percentile of people that don't know how to care for their car... geeee...

You make a point and I will give you that. I have never had a problem with any of my cars that I purchased used. My 96 corvette with an Lt4 in it is used. I love it. I bought it for 20 grand. My 85 and 84 porsche 911s I love. They too are used. They all handle great and have power to match. What is wrong with a good used car? I love them and it is cheaper then buying new.

the lancer that is in the us is a ****ty drag race car, but along the lines of countless other posts, I love the motherfugger.
I love having four doors
I love having abs
I love having 60,000 miles of warranty
I love having a year to start making payments
I love not having a civic
these are the reasons why we bought the car,
