I had a 01 TDI golf (actually stands for turbo direct injection ), yes it only had 90hp, but made about 155 lbft of torque @1900rpm. 5 speed made it feel frisky, and 55mpg wasn't too bad to boot either.

Why Lancer...easy I'm tall and the corolla's driver seat doesn't go far enough back. In the Civic, my shoulder was constantly pressing against the B pillar. In my OZ, I'm pretty comfy all things considered.

hmm

Its unanimous, Everyone agrees its not a civic .. really , how far can you drive and NOT see a civic. I went in to buy an Eclipse, then saw this nice Yellow car with Chrome 17's in the show room and i was hooked. And for those who say it looks like but its not a rally car ... Well yes and no ... now hear me out. I took my car on a rally "road not dirt" and it was raining worse then i had ever seen and these roads were no joke. Twice i thought i was gonna lose control in black ice up in Mnt high in california and it seemed the suspesion had a mind of its own, reactes and kept right on goin. Thats when i gained tons of respect for my OZ. HP had nothing to do with this kind of rally.
And lastly, not all people my like my particular taste in fixing up my ride , but still everyone notices when im driving wherever i may be at that time. And the attention makes me smile

I had leased a '00 Corolla for 2 years and I liked it, it did it job well, felt nice but it just wasnt sporty enough. So I walk into a Mitsu Dealership in Groton, CT to see what the deal with Zero down zero payments for 12 months. And low and behold a see the 02' OZ Rally. It had Evo looks that I knew from Euro Racing as well as Grand Turismo (LOL)

I test drove the car and it felt awesome, with the Zero interest for 12 months, and MSRP price tag I was hooked! For a long time though I thought I had purchased a Chick Car but then I found this community..HALELUYA!

1 APC Racing muffler later, then 1 CF Hood Later, then 1 CP Grill later, I am proud to say I not only love my car, Ilove to show it off!

Also, Horsepower isn't the only marker of a car's "sportiness", handling and braking are too, and Lancer comes from Mitsu's long and storied Rally heritage and I guarantee you it handles better than any Neon, Honda, Mazda or Focus in its class.

1. Not too many people have it

2. It looks sweet, much better than an ordinary civic, sentra, or neon

3. has a long history of rallying.

4. Most importantly, the people who own one are great! (hence the EvoM forums!)

1. This is kinda funny, but video games got me into Lancers. The entire Gran Turismo series had the EVOs, as well as a game called "Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero" - for the first time I was in love with a sedan.

2. I like the fact that they, of course, aren't Hondas. That's the great thing about them, is that you almost ALWAYS get asked what kind of car it is, because they aren't driven by everyone you work with.

3. Hell, why not? I got mine for less than $9k, it was the 2002 model. For this price, still under warranty, plus I wanted one, PLUS it was black? I couldn't turn that down.

my dad's company car got stolen and he decided he'd like to replace it with a mirage. I went with him to the dealership and we found out that they werent making mirages anymore, and the rep showed us the lancer instead. The only one they had at the lot was the yellow oz with yellow dash, tints, the works. My dad jokingly said, 'we'll I'd never drive it in yellow' and i said 'why not, its hott' and bam...had the car off the showroom floor a couple days later. Then I came here and found out all about it! After my dad drove it a couple times he decided its the best car he'd ever driven for that kind of money and went out and bought his own white one. I love my car, its the nicest ride yet for an under $20k car and its different from everything else.

Smile Makes a great winter beater

Gets great gas mileage, and comes with some neat standard stuff for about 16k taxes included.

Best beater I've ever had.

Here's my story. I had a Jeep wrangler that was the ****. I couldn't go anywhere and meet new people without someone saying they'd seen me around town in my jeep. It was the most fun I'd ever had on 4 wheels and had a premium custom Infinity sound system. Sadly though, I used it for what it was created for and put nearly 8K off road miles on it. Now before you think, "Hey I autox all the time and that's nothing." you should know that mud bogging and rock climbing don't add as many miles but can beat up a vehicle so much more. Needless to say my Jeep was falling apart from under the hood. I needed a new car and was heartset on a BMW. I had been looking at BMWs for almost a year and finally came to the conclusion that I couldn't afford one. I don't know what I was thinking. This was in part due to the fact that I refused to go used. It came to me like a revelation. I literally had just realized I would have to start looking for another vehicle and was sitting in my living room thinking one day: "Why doesn't somebody make an ecobox that doesn't look like I'm buying it for my spoiled daughter or bastard son?" you know, something that looked similar to a Beamer. I swear to you it WAS revelation because at that moment I saw my first ever Lancer commercial. I was amazed at how attractive this car was and the price was astounding. Granted, I became sterile from the ****ing gay *** theme song but the commercial still sold me. OK, I hate the Bare Naked Ladies and everyone who likes them or "thinks" that what they spew forth is actually music but that's another thread. Anyways, to make a long story even longer, this car has the styling I'm looking for, the strong base engine to build off of, and a huge cult following that I love being apart of.

edit: Did anyone mention it's not a Honda?

a buddy of imine has a civic sir i hate it! it feels like a quad with a roof ya its fast but i like the feel of the lancer.
and ya civic owners are condescending and arrogant as a group.

I have the Only one in town of any color! thats my biggest reason actually but now that i have it i love it!
every time i push the limits of this car i find that they are higher than i thought. when the rear end brakes loose, which is hard to do!, it realigns so fast and locks back down.. awesome.
I get tons of compliments on it too
