Turbo Lancer Vs...

I'm trying to decide whether I want to turbo the Lancer, use the turbo money for a motorcycle, or sell the car and buy something faster. Either way I want something with a bit more kick. I love my Lancer to death but it's slow, my interior looks cheap, it doesn't respond to mods very well; other than that it's sexy as hell. I've always wanted a bike, but obviously they're dangerous. What would you guys do? I see a lot of people selling either their used turbo kits or their custom turbo'd lancers which makes me wonder how special the car would be after turbo = /

I bought the car a year ago for 5,000 from an auction and it has 56,000 miles on it, its an auto (boring) but I haven't had any problems with her, would the turbo kit really be worth it for me?

Haha good question, I don't have the money quite yet, but I've spent the money to get it where it is now (a bit less than 2k) and I would be able to save up w/o spending anymore on the car.

well for around 4K you could get a stage 2 RRM turbo, and get yourself a bunch of power. BUT, if all your want is something to drive fast. then get a bike.

bikes aren't really dangerous, its other idiot drivers who make em dangerous. As long as you pay attention to everything while your riding it, you should be fine

Only you can decide what you want to do with the money. Would you be happy owning a bike and paying more insurance? What about winter? What other car would you buy? Answers these, and you'll know what you want or at least be closer to figuring out what you want.

Those are all questions you have to ask yourself. I personally won't get a bike because I was whitness to a guy who lost his life while drag racing on a public road. I'd rather be in a car with an airbag.

As for turboing your car, you can do it pretty cheap if you know what your looking for. A 16g custom turbo setup can be done for less than 2000. And you'll get pretty decent numbers after a tune. Now, you won't be the fastest thing on the road but I think that the combo of a decently suspension tuned Lancer in combination with a turboed setup makes for a very fun car to drive.

I have more fun in my car than my room mates Ion Redline... and I have 100 less HP.

Fox

PS- I'll be building a custom turbo setup soon... and I have about the same amount of miles you do on my car.

OWNING AND RIDING A BIKE IS DANGEROUS, regardless of who makes it dangerous they are hella dangerous.

Save it as a daily beater. Go out and buy a mid-late ninety's Honda, turbo that, and have some real fun.

Beat me to it! Buy a '90s Honda Civic (D-series) and turbo it for $4k! Exactly what I'm working on right now! Nothing better than 300+hp out of a 1.6L!
