Hi, I test drove the 08 lancer again, and I found the engine is pretty noisy when you are in the cabin. After saying that, I have not driven a mitsu before. So I was wondering what you all thought. The noise of the engine doesn't seem very smooth.

Ha! Wait till you drive an evo or better yet an RS. You hear EVERYTHING, but thats what make these cars so engaging to drive. Welcome to the world of Mitsubishi.

Hate riding in cars where you can't hear the thing run... The wife just had her business rent her a Jetta 2.5 for traveling, and we started the thing up and started talking. Couple minutes later we're ready to go... Couldn't hear the thing running so the wife tried starting it again...! Ouch! LOL

BTW, don't ever buy rental cars!

Don't ever buy a turbocharged car because you will hate the noise of the Turbo ... the best noise EVER!!!

 

Having driven a WRX for the past 5 years, I found the Lancer GTS with Auto very quiet.

 

My GTS has to be the most quiet car i've owned. From the inside i can't hear it running unless there is nothing around me and the music system is turned off. Externally the motor does have a bit more noise to it. Reminds me of a performance I4 motorcycle engine. All the light weight aluminum motors seem to be more audible.
