Beginner Questions

Yo, I'm 15 and really want a US Lancer. I'll be getting a car in 2 years. Will the "Upgrade Path still be helpful? Will this site still be up to help me modify my US Lancer?

Thanks for anyone who answers!

Uprage path would probably be the same, unless some new fantastic product comes out. And about the site still being up, I guess we'll have to see when the time comes.

Well within 2 years the Lancer Ralliart is bound to debut, that's a totally different Engine and a short redesign. The Upgrade Path in particular is for the ES, LS, OZ Lancers. Maybe if the Engines and other parts stay the same then you'll still be able to use the Upgrade Path as a guideline. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the next model year Lancer ES, LS, OZ will be using the same or not the same Engine as the Lancer Ralliart.

We'll just have to see. Nothing is still finalized with next year's Lancer. If you really want to use the Upgrade Path in 2 years, I suggest getting a used 02-03 Lancer. By the time you get a Lancer within those 2 years, it's a new Engine.

As for the Forums being up in 2 years. I don't see any downfall to this already great site.

I'm don't really care about the Ralliart, all I want is a brand new 2005 Lancer ES, nothing used. So, if the Lancer ES does change their will still be mods to workaround it, right?

Well if the Engine of the 2005 Lancer ES stays the same as the current one today than you could use the parts from now. But if it's a new Engine, then aftermarket companies will have to develop some new parts for the new Engine.

If it does change there will be mods around of course.

I'm thinking the ES LS Lancers will have the same 2L 4g94 engine two years from now, either that or a de-tuned version of the new 2.4L engine in the Ralliart Lancer.

I don't think the OZ will be around once the Ralliart comes in. It was just a phase in Mitsubishi bringing in "performance" automobiles into the US/Canada market. Kinda like how Ford built the Bullitt and now the Mach 1 and each of them were/are availible 1-2 years.

As for the forums being up I'm sure they'll still exist. Mitsi isn't going to kill off the Lancer line-up. The Evolution might get a re-design by 05...Evolution 9!!!!!!! And they're still be Lancer enthusiasts, you have nothing to worry about.

Only thing that isn't a given is that you'll still be interested in the car 2 years from now, with all the other cars coming out you might decide you want a Neon SRT-4 or the Dodge Razor or even a Honda ****-vic *cough* sorry I meant Civic.
