concerned about modding

Honestly i do not plan to keep my car for a long time obviously. I want to get things for my car but if i trade it in i would loose allot of money on parts i would not be able to remove stuff like headers, exhaust, pulley`s,wing,cf hoods and so on.

So my question is would you do it knowingly you are going to move up to another car in 2-3 years?

Btw i plan to move into an evo by then.

If this is the case, then it's pretty clear to me why you shouldn't spend any money on the Lancer.

if u keep the stock parts it should be fine
im modding my car(custom kit)
but im keeping all stock parts so when i sell my car if i cant get the price i want for the modded car, i will return it to stock and sell the car and kit seperatly

so i dont think it would be that hard to return headers and pulley etc that u mentioned to stock and resell the headers here
coz 2-3 years is a long time stock

+1 no one plans on keeping their car forever, and the bolt-on mods you listed are 1. easy to remove and 2. cheap to buy

+1 to both.
But really if you cant replace the mod parts with stock when the time comes. just dont do it or be prepared to take a loss.

Don't mod. Put that money towards the Evo. You'll be MUCH happier in the long run.

Go for comfort or slight performance mods with the lancer if you are planning on going evo. Get a nice audio system for starters. As far as light performance upgrades that are easy to remove I would recommend:
-short shifter w/ base and linkage bushings (you can get this at www.kartboy.com).
-BRAKE PADS. These make a huge difference, and in at least one instance saved my car and maybe my life. I use axxiss ultimates.
-Nice tires. These are necessary. Try driving in the snow or rain with stock tires; it's treacherous. I've got goodyear tripletreads.
-A short ram intake. Easy to put in, easy to take out. Nice sound (way cooler than exhaust with no other mods), plus you get a few HP and throttle response.
-Suspension bars. They are easy to install and do help. The consensus is get the rear anti sway bar from RRM first, then go from there.

Personally that's all I would do if I were trading my car in in the near future. All those parts are removable and they make the lancer much more fun and safe. I would not waste your time with exhaust/header/pulley etc. The car will still be slow and not worth it if you are trading in. You can get an aftermarket muffler or axleback to improve sound and look without dropping all the cash on the catback. If the lancer was your main project, then those engine mods would be more worth it. Good luck!

If you know you're getting a new car, just wait for the new car. Or if you do any mods, keep them simple and cheap--nothing that marries you to the car because you already know the relationship is on the rocks lol

Believe me, it hurts to think of all the money I threw into my last car. Don't get me wrong, I loved it beyond words, but all in all I threw in a lot of needless stuff when I could have just saved my money. The modding bug is hard to avoid, but in the end patience is a virtue.

if you plan to sell the car, dont mod it. If you want to mod something. Use that car as your DD and get a old car you can mess with as a project that you keep ahold of. Mabey wheels or something thatcan be transfered over but I wouldnt go crazy.

are you making payments on your lancer? or did you buy it straight cash?

if you make payments, don't mod it. Use the money to pay extra on your payments and pay it off sooner.

if you don't have a loan on it. Then yeh, some basic intake mods, maybe new sound system and tires would do yah.

In my opinion, the best visual mod you can do to our car is a nice set of 17" rims. So you may wanna see about picking a nice used set or something. Nothing to expensive though

If you're going to sell the car (or rather you know you're going to sell it soon) don't touch anything. Bolt-ons are pointless unless you do every single one and even then you'll gain maybe 10 hp. The only thing I would even consider doing is get a new deck and maybe tint. A SRI does nothing, it's just a noise maker, a strut bar is worthless without other suspension mods and nice tires can't be exploited by a stock car. Leave it completely stock, every mod you do could lower resale value and you'll never get the money you put into it back.
