Anyways, I will need to get one and clean the old one for the next change.

I think I found one locally for a decent cost, need to go pick it up this afternoon.

I was thinking more along the lines of engine/carb cleaner... but honestly, anything that will breakup the sludge and let the valve function like it should would be fine.

I am all happy that I was able to get a Standard Motor Product PCV thats made in the USA for a great cost. Only problem is that I can't get the old one off

If I try to apply anymore force, I am scared it might rip the angle pipe off the valve cover. I tried applying penetrating oil several times and even tried to support the pipe with a block of wood so I can untorque it with more force, but it won't even budge.

I just sprayed some carb cleaner into the old one and called it a day. Did you guys experience a tight PCV that wouldn't come off ?

Hmmm, wasn't the area on the valve cover buckling when you try to loosen it ?, I see the weld area around it deforming the valve cover and the silver paint around it cracking. Its not that I could not apply more force, just with more force the pipe would rip off and then I would be in deep s**t !

This is the most stupid design I seen on the Lancer so far. I even tried to loosen it with an electric torque gun, it didn't move a bit !

Apply some heat. Propane torch. I think a better idea would be to get the vehicle up to operating temperature and then giving it a few tugs. Heat almost always helps.

Did it start buckling ? Looks like they brazed the pipe to the valve cover which gives it more flexibility.

Tried everything and nothing worked and I dont have an impact wrench

So I brought it to my dealer today for the reason if they broke it they would have to replace the valve cover, they too could not remove it by hand even though I told them, they then used an impact wrench and it came off in a jiffy, they charged me $17cad tax in for 5 minutes of work. I notice the original stock part(olive green finish) that came with my car did not fit as well as the aftermarket part since only a couple of threads was able to screw into the pipe on the valve cover. The aftermarket PCV screwed all the way in with ease, I added some anti-seize compound just in case. Did you guys see that on the stock part too ?

What brand is it ? mine was a Standard Motor Product V303 finished in a nice silver zinc finish, much nicer than the ugly stock olive drab. Keep us updated on your installation. Wow 77k is alot of mileage, should be your 2nd or so PCV already, but its not even mentioned in Mitsu's maintenance schedules. Its funny how flimsy the rubber hose is connected to the PCV. Just pulling the hose out and the car will stall and the engine will stop.

i think it is just a generic product, but at least it is shiny. If i have time i will snap a couple of photos for anyone else doing this. Although i'm not sure how anyone would get confused. lol
