PCV Alternatives ?

I want to replace my PCV, but the dealer wants @$35CAD for it. None of the aftermarket car part places even have it for my Lancer. I searched online and Hastings(P/N HV131) and AC Delco(P/N CV5036C) makes it. I also found out that the same PCV our Lancers use is also used on 2005-2007 Chrysler Sebrings, 2005 Dodge Stratus, KIA Magentis and 1990-2007 Huyundai Sonata, 2001-2003 Santa Fe.

So this might help you locate find the PCV if you want to avoid paying the ridiculous prices Mitsu dealers are charging and more alternatives that are used by other car brands.

I checked at 5 places locally today, none had in stock or is even in their system. I guess I will be visiting a Chrysler dealer or using one of its models as a reference tomorrow.

Yup, there are 8 Mitsu dealers locally, not bad, but their prices are retarded ! $32 for a jug of coolant, $32 for a air filter, you get the picture !

I am going to get a jug of Honda coolant for $16cad and I got some Nippon Air Filters for $8cad.

A very important componet to a car's emission system. It is located on the top of your engine valve cover right next to the oil cap. A dirty PCV will cause rough engine idling, loss of power, poor fuel economy and more pollutants.

Since it is not indicated in Mitsu's maintenance schedule, most mechanics recommend changing it at 24,000-30,000miles. It is relatively inexpensive if you can find them locally.

Just wondering about the Original Poster - have you cleaned yours? You don't necessarily have to replace it.
