Why did you guys get a Lancer?
The looks were fresh, the price is right, and after test driving the new civic si, the mazda 3speed, 6speed, subaru TR, sti; I felt that the Lancer had a little of all of those cars wrapped into one.
I am a gadget junkie and with everything that came with the Lancer, I was sold.
Honda Civics are all over here in Orlando, Hondas are the most popular cars and I was beginning to feel like I am seeing clones everywhere, and when i saw this Lancer, it's looks was what caught my eye and I knew that when I copped it, I would have dropped a rock in that calm pond of Honda, Mazda, Subaru owners.
And I did.
lol
I am very happy with my purchase.
Additionally, I went to South Beach yesterday, and from Orlando, it's a 4 hour ride. I had this Lancer at an average of 100-105 mph all the way down and got there in 3 hours flat. On my way back this morning, I had it on average of 110-115 mph and got here in 2.5 hours.
That was just some positive reinforcement and made me have a kool-aid smile knowing that my purchase was even more smarter then most cars I had bought in the past.
It seems like this car doesn't stop surprising me and I think the car with all the great reviews that are out there, whether it be manual or CVT, the car is still underrated, it seems like the engine has some tricks in it's sleeves that we are still seeing as we drive.

Needed a carat the time. Saw a lancer sitting in a mitsu lot. had visions of driving a evo in gran turismo and thought it would be cool to own a rally edition lancer. Only had autos on the lot which sucked but I ended up getting one anyway. I got mine end of production year 03. that model was scarce. Wish I knew that the car had no nuts at all... lol
Hey, it still does. A lady I work with bought her Focus based on knowing about them from WRC. I don't think she was expecting big power, though.
It's always like this. The first Imprezas in America kept the hood scoop . . . but didn't have the turbo or top-mount intercooler that the hood scoop intended to feed. Likewise, from 01 until now,
has always made a point to play up the Lancer's "rally heritage." My 02 and 08 might have had rally heritage, but I don't think I would stand a chance against an Evo on the rally trails of Monte Carlo...
Advertising will always be what it is. Make it sound better than it really is.

Got my 06 ES due to a great deal from the stealer. It was a leftover, and they really wanted to get rid of it. its fun to drive, and while its not the fastest thing on the block (my dog runs faster), I like the way it handles (but will be upgrading the suspension when I get the chance). Besides i drive it to work every day and it gets good gas mileage.
Why would you want to drive anything else? (Except maybe an EVO, or Twin Turbo Supra if I had the money).
Nice to hear from everyone else!

I was only 14 when the 02 came out and I was like
I liked how it looked compared to hondas and toyotas.
Then I was like
when i found out the evo came to america.
So the lancer in general became my dream car.
Then 4 years later after a 3 year relationship with my ex gf breakin up with me the only thing that my dad new that would cheer me up was getting my junior dream car.
Got it used at a toyota dealership
My lancer was a dream come true. I know it's not the fastest but when I'm with it its like I have no worries
Love my Junior dream car but Evo is on my to do list
