2008 lancer average mpg?
2008 lancer average mpg?
so ive had my GTS for about 4 months now and the best mpg im getting is 23.5mpg. im reading other owners are getting 29-29. can there be something else affecting my mpg? i do have the ca-spec lancer, can that be it? what are other owners in here getting?
My best was 33 or 34 on the highway. My average is between 24 and 27, city, and 26 and 30 highway.
Do you have a manual or automatic? Because if you run it hard, do a lot of stop and go, rev it alot before shifting, then you're mpg will suffer.

i have the CVT. i dont run it hard at all. ive also notice then after i got my intake and wheel install my car seems to have gotten confuse, the gas meter seems to go down in larger increments, the mpg reading takes a longer time to be accurate. i wonder if the ECU needs the TPS in the wheel to calibrate the mpg.
My CVT averages around 24 or 25 mpg. On a long car trip (all highway), I saw up to 29.
TPMS has nothing to do with the MPG. Also, don't use the computer, just figure the mileage the old fashioned way (divide miles by gallons used).
Also, are you tires the stock size? If not, you could be throwing off the mileage.

I find with mine, I've get about 7L/100KMs (33.6MPG) in highway and usually about 8.5L/100Kms (27.6 MPG) in the city... Not even sure what the EPA is... Any ideas?
By the way, probably first post, just bought myself a 2008 Lancer... Wasn't willing to wait for them to bring in new models, so I just ended up driving the showroom model off the floor and ended up with a DE (I think...), but from the sounds of things, there isn't a whole lot to diffrentiate the different models, all have the same engine right?

The EPA is 22 city and 29 highway, I believe.
And the differences between the ES, DE, and GTS, are the options they come standard with, the body kits, sport tuned suspension on GTS, but yes, they all have the same engines.

Talk to your dealership...there are lemon laws to protect you against this, and if it is something seriously wrong with the car that is robbing you of your mpg, then they have to do whatever they can to fix it, or give you a new car.
What's your worst MPG other than stcuk in traffic? That would help figure out if your car's bad.
I find that I get about 22-24 mpg in town as ling as traffic is light. On the highway I can average between 32 and 34 mpg if I basically set the cruise and let the car maintain 70 mph or so. But what you need to do it reset the MGP meter right after you've gotten on the highway, since it's an average of all the driving you've recently done. Try that and see how your figures compare with ours.
