my first dragway run in the lancer
In comparison to others times I have to agree with some of the above statements. Not trying to knock you down, but from what others have posted with similar mods, I don't think that 14 is even possible. I'd also say high 14-mid 15's...
And just so you know, I used a stop watch against your video and I got 17.5.
Now take my own reaction time out of the equation (total of about 1 second), that brings you down to 16.5 and that's right about where you should be, give or take a few dimes.

i didn't think it was possible either... but i was definitely in the car driving it, the seven or so people with me saw the time, i've got it on the slip from the race, and one of my friends recorded it on video.
i don't know what else to say, in fact i am probably even more shocked than you guys with what the car ran. i wish that i didn't screw up my shifting on that second run so that i could have something else to compare the first run to.
to be honest i've got no reason to throw around BS. i don't care THAT much, i have bigger things to worry about in life, you know? i know my lancer isn't a supercar and i don't run around claiming it is. to the best of my knowledge the time in the video is accurate.

a stop watch against the lights in the video wouldn't be anywhere near as accurate as timing lights or whatever it is that they use to control the times at the track. i think a measurement like that would be even more inaccurate than if what was on my video was.
if somehow the timing was screwed up at the track by the person who stuck their foot in--could this give me a two second difference? i think that's hard to believe, but if anyone has any information regarding that i'd like to hear it. i will be super pissed if this is the case, but if someone can prove that my time is wrong then it's wrong.

all you have to do is watch the video, it was 16 second run.
she stood in front of the timing light for 2 seconds.
sorry man
I would definitely complain. you have the evidence right in your video, you can see her position her foot right in the timing light, like she was staging it for you.

atilla, it was a great run from looking at it. And I am sorry but there is no way I could see that being a 14 second run. Stock is like 18 so even a 16 second run which appears to me what you ran is still a good pass. I could see a 250-275 whp turbo lancer running a 14 but not an NA. I think that lady messed up your run. Don't be too disappointed because like I said it still seems to be a good run. Just not QUITE as good as the time shown
i don't really know how the timing stuff at a drag track like that works, if my time is wrong i would like to know how and why... and why no one would notice that it was being screwed up at the time. i know at all the autocross events i've been at they always are on top of the timing.
i just think it's strange out of the whole pile of cars that only one time was jacked up and that car happened to be mine. of the seven or so people with me four of them were also racing and no one had anything to say about their times.
if anyone knows someone who is into this stuff professionally and they can verify that the video is accurate or inaccurate i'd like to hear some input from them. if my time was in fact ****ed up i am not ever going to drive two hours and then pay $20 up there again as long as i live.

i want to hear from someone who has professional experience with the type of timing system in use at that track so i can get an actual, factual answer as to whether my run was jacked up or not.
i wish my friend caught more of the track on the video, but that's the only angle on it. i can't remember where that guy was. according to the time slip he ran a 15.893.
