my first dragway run in the lancer

i was pleased... i managed to pull off a 14.030. i hit my shifts perfectly and had a decent launch. i can't say the same for my second run though--18.744 thanks to a crap-tacular launch and missing third gear. like i needed third gear anyway!

i miss how the exhaust used to sound, the RRM header really changed the pitch. i want to get some work on the exhaust done sometime soon though. i want to get a resonator added to eliminate that buzz, and i also want a custom downpipe at least 2". the stock downpipe is just horrible... about three inches wide and an inch or so tall in this one spot to clear the frame. i thought it was damaged the first time i saw it!

right now the video is processing on youtube--when it's up for viewing i'll update this post with a link.

edit: i took the video off my youtube account... if it's not right i don't want it to be up there... even if it makes my car look better than it is. maybe i will go back sometime and get an ACCURATE time. see the end of the thread for more info.

i was worried that i'd be disappointed but i was very proud of my little car. i could pick up a few extra horsepower and a little extra torque with a more aggressive tune on my piggyback--which i just may have done sometime soon.

i have missed all the recent autocross events so it was AWESOME to go SOMEWHERE and just RACE!

Great run, I'm impressed. It's too bad you didn't hit the 13's, you were so close! I'm sure its somewhere on the forums, but... i'm very lazy, what mods are you running?

i think it would have been possible with less weight (i've got my 10" sub and box permanently attached in the trunk for starters...), i was very close.

i've got the RRM crank pulley, ported IM, TB coolant bypass, RRM header, 2.5" cat-back, RRM piggyback v.1 tuned for 93 OCT, SRI, and i adjusted my throttle cable for better response. i also had the vent out of the CF hood so i could get just a little more air to that SRI. i also have shifter linkage and under hood bushings--those helped take some of the sloppy out of the shifter. the conditions were GREAT for driving, everyone's cars were doing good because of the weather, it was a perfect 72.

14.0 at 80 mph?

Did anyone else notice the starter putting her foot in your beams?

Edit: You can see your staging beams still on as the camera passes the tree. The same thing happened to an eclipse next to me. It said the Eclipse ran an 8.4 to my 8.56 due to its smoke fooling the beams to think it was still sitting there, yet I beat it to the line by quite the distance. I can honestly say I've NEVER seen a starter purposly mess with someones time like that. She must have it bad for you man, I'd pull that number if I were you!

I bet your 60' time was an outstanding 0.00!

I would be genuinely pissed if someone did that to me at a track. You pay money to get accurate times and if that run was possibly your personal best and they F'ed it up by playing around, its really not cool.

So did the lady mess up the time? I counted (which is inaccurate but gives a rough idea) and your run appeared to be a 16 sec run or so. Still not terribly bad...

I got nothing against you atilla, but I call bs on your time.

I ran 16.7 with h/e/i

With Ported manifold and piggy I expected to get into mid to high 15s.

There is no way a ported IM, TB coolant bypass and pulley shaved almost 3 seconds of your time (compared to mine). No matter how good of a driver you are.

ya kinda fishy but thats pretty impressive though if thats all he had for a 14 run. people that have turbos usually do mid-low 14s. some high 13s.
