If You Didnt Buy a Lancer...

Hey all, I am new to the forums but have been reading alot about the new Lancer. Its time for me to get a new car and I am interested in the Lancer, but before I buy one, I just wanted to ask:

1) Now that you bought a Lancer, do you regret not buying another car?
2) What were your second choices when looking to buy a car?

I only ask because I dont want to buy one and then be like "SHOOT! I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN....." Are there any cars that offer as much of the gadgets and goodies and look of the Lancer for around the same price?

Honestly, I just regret what I could have gotten. At the same time, I don't.

I wanted a nice, brand new car. I got that. And I'm paying $400/month for the priviledge...

At the same time, I could have a used Evo 8 for the amount I paid. So that does hit me bit a bit of regret. I could be rolling with lots of HP and AWD. Sure, the car would be a few years old, but it's a tempting thought.

------

That's about it. I certainly don't look at other brands of car with longing or anything like that. The only cars I wish I could have are the ones I can't afford (350Z being my personal favorite of the moment).

Thanks for the reply (and for moving it to the right place). I would agree that an evo would be nice. I was in the dealership yesterday and almost bought a Lancer, but I am coming here just to see if anyone else had any regrets.

I definitely want to get a brand new car (having problems with my current used one - dont want to be bothered with used). I like the Lancer ALOT, i just want to make sure that after I buy it I dont turn around and say shoot I should have gotten something else (sentra, civic, G6) - something in the same price range with similar options.

Everyone regrets not buying another car...I regret not buying a Veyron...but they're a tad out of my price range. My second choice was any other Japanese car (I hate Domestic cars and I'd rather be stabbed than drive a Kia).

The bottom line is that all of these questions have to be answered by you. A car is a life-altering investment, and as such, you need to do your own research until you feel you've come to an educated decision and so the dealerships don't eat you alive.

No, I'm very happy with the car. I do kinda wish I'd gotten the Navigation package, but I can live without it just fine. And I wish Lancers didn't have TPMS, but there's no way around that.

I was in the market this summer for a new car since I had just graduated, new job coming up etc etc. The usual story. Obviously the segment I was looking for was the compact sedan pitting the Civics-Mazda3's-Corollas etc against the Lancer 2008.

I definitely do not regret buying it even a little bit. I know there's updated models coming out in a year or two but this one fit my budget best so there was no point in waiting anyway. If you really forced me to buy another car I might have, reluctantly, got the Mazda3.

The only thing I regret was not getting one with the S&S package

Thats the group I am looking in (Civic, Corolla, G6, Sentra's). If I get a Lancer, I am going GTS fully loaded which puts me in the 22-23K range. Thats about the highest I can afford right now.

It seems like the Lancers have any gadget you could want. It seems like the others are missing some option or another that the GTS would have. I have been doing alot of research I just want to make sure that I couldnt get all those options that the Lancer has, in another car for around the same price and with more HP or something.

I'm 90% sure that you can go in to the dealership and get a refund on your warranty. Go ask them.

yeah i am a little bit concerned about the power issue, however, i only drive to and from work and then to visit my girlfriend on long island (i live in nj) which means I am always in traffic. There is never a chance I would get to drive fast.

From what I have gathered, reading these forums, most other cars in this category, or price range, will have more power or giddy-up, but most lack the interior comfort and features that the lancer offers. It's got to be a personal choice for you, of which you would rather have. As a daily driver, it's great. I love mine. It's got the looks, enough power that I still feel manly, and it's a very comfortable ride. As DJ said, my only real regret is that I didn't get the Nav package.

the thing i regret is not looking into the different kinds of trims available in the lancer. bk when i got my car i didn't know much about cars at all lol. i knew i wanted a lancer but had i known about the different trims available then i probably would've upgraded to a ralliart or soemthing cus that would've been a good hp gain for not that much of a price difference. i don't really mind the lacking interior cus modding it myself is also cool

No regrets here except i wish I got the leather.
But when I copped mine, they didn't offer it yet.

I got the whole nine yards except the leather.
GTS, S&S, Navigation.
It's got decent power, and the color i chose is non-cliche and I got *****s turning their heads everytime I roll.
Guys with Evos, old lancers, lol new lancers, civic owners, Bimmer owners all be checking me out.
LOL

&
I am planning to get the X. haha
Might wanna do a trade in for my GTS but it's not that i regret buying it.
I just want the X now.

^And to that point... i'm willing to bet if you test drove a used Evo you'd probably be hooked. It isn't uncommon to see evos in the 20-25k price range nowadays.
