Exclamation WORKS Speed World Challenge Lancer!!!

]

Los Angeles, California - November 15, 2007 - Today the curtains were pulled on the new WORKS built SPEED World Challenge (SWC) Lancer at the Los Angeles Auto Show. WORKS, which is known as the preeminent Mitsubishi tuner in North America, sees this as a great opportunity. "To get involved in professional racing with a manufacturer whose vehicles inspired WORKS to start in the first place is a dream come true," stated WORKS founder and CEO Peter Kang. "We are looking forward to a challenging and successful year in the Speed World Challenge." With significant research and development time already invested into the project, the WORKS SWC Lancer will continue its efforts through the off-season with the goal of running a full racing schedule for the 2008 calendar year. Two-time (2005 and 2006) United States Touring Car champion David Brown will be spearheading the driving effort for 2008.

The WORKS SWC Lancer already boasts an impressive build list including front and rear WORKS/hlins coilovers, WORKS two-piece rotors featuring Brembo aluminum calipers, a WORKS racing clutch with `Spin' flywheel, and a fully built and balanced Mitsubishi four cylinder engine. Inside the car there is a WORKS `Throw' short shifter with `Grab' shift knob, WORKS carbon fiber panels, a single Recaro Pro Racer seat, Tilton pedal assembly, and a custom roll cage installed by Impact Engineering. Pending final homologation, the SWC Lancer will receive a few more racing and performance parts from WORKS and their partners before heading to tracks across the US and Canada.

Coming right on the heels of their grand opening at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA this announcement marks another major step for WORKS as they continue to expand in the motorsports world. WORKS is proud to be part of such a great partnership with Mitsubishi Motors North America, and they look forward to running a competitive team for the 2008 season.

Thanks guys! WORKS has some challenges ahead, but we're looking forward to an exciting '08 season in Touring Car. Currently, the brakes consisit of WORKS 2-piece rotors front and rear, WORKS SS Brake Lines and Brembo calipers (brake compound TBD). We're using a Tilton pedal assembly with custom master cylinder and have an in-cockpit brake-bias adjuster. Our home page has larger versions of the images and we'll be making updates regularly.

This is awesome! Now I don't have to keep rooting for the Acuras or the Mazdas. Good luck, looking forward to seeing it run next year.

For fans, make sure to check out the forums at the SPEED World Challenge site - http://www.world-challenge.com. It's an unprecedented level of access to fans, owners, and drivers. There are some fascinating debates going on with some very frank posts from drivers about various situations. Excellent reading, and it puts you right in the competitors' mindset. Great stuff!

They're currently fitted with "EVO" Brembos. The spacing for the mounting holes are off front and rear. The rears were close to bolting up to the factory '08 Lancer holes, but fronts were nowhere near the right location on the OEM spindle/hub assembly. Some fabrication was needed at both ends.
