is it possible for the lancer gts to be as fast or nearly as fast as a stock evo?
If you really want to drop 10-12k on upgrading, then your first step should be trading in the Lancer at a
dealership. Just say "I'd like to trade this slow one in for one with a little more . . . Evolution in it."
umm yeaaaa!!!!
i smoked some evos when i was around!!
not only that i whopped tons of domestics and euros as well
build her up and have some fun
and besides its a hell of a lot cheaper on insurance than an evo
or sports car
anything is possible for any car

the best part of my build was that i built my own motor with a good friend of mine who works as a certified mechanic....he actually makes/builds trucks just from the chassis
that saves tons of $$$$

Something tells me that the cost of insuring a highly modified lancer is probably the same or more than insuring a car that's built fast from the factory. Obviously you can say "why tell your insurance company?" but that's a very dangerous game to play, some insurance companies don't seem to care while others will refuse any claims if they find out the car was modifed (ie. not what they agreed to insure for the agreed rate).
If your goal is simply to have a fast car, save yourself a lot of time, money and headaches and buy a fast car. If you want to modify the car you have, go nuts.

FYI My local Mitsu dealer said (Still not confirmed) that the X's MSRP is going to be somewhere around 42k to start and that probably everyone is going to mark that up a significant amount because of the demand. Now i dont know about you but even if he is off by a couple grand, 40k is still far too much for a Mitsu.
We need more cars like the SRT-4. Cheap, Powerful, Easy to mod and Bulletproof.

I think it also boils down to what is the most affordable way for people. Its difficult for a lot of young individuals that may still be in college with lower paying jobs to finance close to $40,000. The monthly payments for the car and insurance is just overwhelming. You could finance around $20,000 (after taxes) and by the time that power mods are available a good chunk of that could be paid off. This could make it easier to save money for the upgrades or finance them. The only downside to this whole deal is you're obviously going to miss the AWD no matter what you do. I would say that in the long run, buying an EVO would be the better choice. Even if you leave it stock you're getting a lot more for your money IMO.
So the ralliart is going to be FWD now? I really wish Mitsubishi would just tell people already, I've heard it was going to be AWD, then FWD, then AWD, then hatchback, then this that and the other.
well how much is a subaru wrx sti?? isn't it aroud 33,000?? a lot of kids have that car... whats another 7 grand?? ofcourse most of those kids has their parents buy it for them... so whats another 7 grand when ur parents are buying it for their spoiled kids..
