depends... if u are having to remove ur crash bar or something to install the kit then obviously its not as safe as stock

 

Your dad does know the factory bumpers are plastic, right? Like what was just mentioned, as long as the crash bar isn't removed you can agree what material is stronger...FG or molded plastic. Both are not very crash worthy!
