Insurance questions

i have liability insurance with usaa and the other day i saw a car almost hit my car at school campus. I was wondering if he would of had hit me, would the insurance cover my custom aftermarket rear bumper. The bumper is from a 04 and it was cut and molded to the original bumper and the bottom part is painted marble. And i dont have a receipt for the rear bumper....

Why not contact your insurance company for 100% accurate answer? My best answer would be, in the case of an accident, they'd replace the aftermarket bumper with a similar new one...just provide a quote from say Accolade for its replacement.

Well, they usually pay what OEM was... What are they gonna replace it with if you made a one-off? No way to value it really...

PS OEM is usually a little more $$ than aftermarket, so you would be ahead of the game to get OEM prices on parts...

Get the OEM price and AF price. Give them the price comparison and they will most likely go with the AF.

You could always take detailed dated pictures of your car and send them to your insurance company with a list of what your car has…copies of receipts are always a good thing too…
By doing this, if something should ever happen to your car (knock on wood), they would look into look into what needed to be replaced instead of just assuming your car was all original.
The downside to this is that they might raise your insurance…they shouldn’t…but they might…

…I agree with Punkskalar & 04lancerRsGuy…OEM usually costs more than an aftermarket product anyway…so think about that…

If it comes down to it, just get a quote from Accolade for the replacement parts needed...Dave was very helpful in my time of need!
