Insurance

Does anyone know how to get insurance to cover the risk of damage to your car during a track event?

I have not had an accident but am concerned that my standard coverage may not cover accidents on the track. I would by additional insurance if it was affordable.

Well, I dont know about the car however if your a member of SCCA and your attending a SCCA event you could have coverage of medical bills up to 1 million Dollars. I could be reading it wrong but you could check it at their website.

If the track event is not a competition, it is usually covered under normal insurance. Although not a common occurance, NASA has yet to have a claim go unpaid. Of course, some of them got their insurance cancelled, but there's other companies. If you're actually competing, they won't cover it, so check Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. I've seen ads for racer's insurance, not sure if that was for life or car insurance though.

I did a web search a while back and came up with several companies offering this kind of insurance. But, they only did business in a limited number of states.

I doubt it is illegal, but some state's insurance commissions are easier to work with than others. It takes a lot of time and money to get approved to do insurance business in each state, so dont expect to buy something like this in, say, Mississippi.

Thanks for the suggestion to check the magazine. I don't know where it is carried near me but I have ordered a copy from their website.

I don't do that many events but would hate to wreck the car and not have the insurance cover it.

Thanks
