08 GTS - "Long term" report
It's been a while since I was here and posted anything. I had meant to do a 6 month report on my GTS and how things were going.
Right now it's been 9 months since I bought the car. I've got approximately 14,000 miles on it. To put it in perspective, I've never put more than 15,000 miles in a year on a car and I'll easily pass that before we get to March.
Issues: So far, I've had only one problem - at about 5500 miles the car had acceleration problems (the perfectly-named "limp" mode). I took it to the dealer, they diagnosed it and told me the throttle body was defective and had to be replaced. It took them four days (including a weekend) but they got the car back to me and it's run fine ever since. Not even a hint of the prior problem. Gas mileage has improved since the throttle body was replaced. One minor issue - the maps for the GPS are from 2005 and it shows; newer roads and locations are not in the system. No word from the dealer on when that will be updated.
All in all, though, I love this car. I am currently transitioning from a job in Maryland to one in Pittsburgh, so I am in my car a lot. The hands-free bluetooth works great and so does the stereo/GPS/Sirius. I absolutely adore the hard drive music system. The CVT is a blast to drive, although I've noticed that the car is noticeably faster off the line in CVT mode than in manual-shifting. However, the manual shifting really shines on mountain roads, using it to downshift into turns and then shift up and accelerate out works great, particularly with the paddleshifters. The roads have been a mess on the interstates & turnpike with all the snow & ice but the Lancer just plugs along nicely. Plenty of grip.

^ Some people have had it, I would say most haven't. In slow traffic, I can take my hands off the wheel and drive straight as an arrow. Only issue I've had (I'm approaching 15,000 miles) is the non-start every once in a blue moon. I hope to get that fixed with the modified relays mentioned in the TSB (there's a thread on it somewhere) at my 15,000 mile maintenence next week.
I've experienced the pulling issue at low speeds. At highspeeds it hasnt been a problem, probably because at high speeds the moment of inertia becomes considerably higher. And overcomes whatever imbalance there is.

I've also had the pulling issue but it's at low speeds as well as high speeds so I'd guess it's situational.
Back on topic...I've had mine for about 3 months now with 2600mi on it and along with the alignment I've also had an issue with the extremely thin paint, the thread's elsewhere, I recommend reading it.

Definitely not. As far as handling, the car is a dream at both low and high speeds. We have a lot of hilly areas in western Maryland/Southern PA and as a result, lots of curvy roads. An absolute blast to drive in the Lancer. Pulling to the left or right sounds to me like there is an issue with the alignment or the tires aren't balanced right.
its wanders a bit to the left but mostly has to do with road crown for me, either I got used to it of just slowly went away. 13300Kms on mine now and no problems other than getting the bumper repainted under warranty, yay!
And just had it in today to fix a squeak in the rear suspension, they lubed up the sway bar bushings and the front only squeaks when its cold out and its warm today so NFF(no fault found)
The best part is that they did warranty work pretty quick and they washed my car too! Gotta make up more complaints for the dealer everytime my car is dirty. They love my rrm intake and say no problems for warranty unless its directly related to the intake. Also one guy had a cold air intake and sucked water 2 months ago and bent a rod and other fun stuff....no warranty on that for the poor bugger.
Sorry a little off topic but I just wanted to say I really enjoy my dealership (not the one I bought my car from). North Shore mitsubishi in Vancouver Canada.
