The synthetic blends are closer to the best of neither worlds really. There are no real advantages to running dino/synth blends. You're better off going all dino or all synth.

so it's safe to switch between different grades of syn as long as you drain all the old crap and put fresh stuff in? i know you aren't supposed to chnage brands or mix grades, but switching grades is fine? that's interesting

Done it before, never had a problem. Will do it again...and again...and again until my car is in pieces.

Unless your current oil isn't lubricating for **** and you're losing power because of it then it's highly unlikely you'll notice a difference.
