don't get 20w-50 oil for your lancer in less you are in antartica or something. look in the back of your manual for the best weight for your climate. i presonally run 10w30 because of the heat here. why don't you want to run synthetic?

there have been whole threads on why synthetics are bad in the lancer. basically it boils down the synthetics are to thin for the oil pump and one of the turbo guys actually spun a rod bearing because of it (had to rebuild his engine).

shoot, regular ol' oil is good enough for me. Due to my exessive driving i gotta change my oil all the time anyway, so an extra thousand miles aint shizz.

Synthetic is really poor for our car defeated just ask ROCK from RRM he will tell you.

Actually, YOZ03, a heavier weight and viscosity oil like that would be better under extreme heat.

0W-20
0W-30
0W-40
5W-30
10W-30
15W-50

Those are the available grades of Mobil 1. Some people have claimed it causes failures in the Lancer, but nothing has been confirmed so far as I know.

i use redline 10w 30 i have 35000 miles no problems. if i ever go turbo i will not use synthetic due to the so called thinning out of the oil.but on n/a motors synthetic is just fine.

I use Quaker State 10w30 High Performance Sythetic blend. Car runs smooth and quiet. No complaints here.

Oh yeah, for the record my car is turbocharged and I'm running Mobil 1 15w50. I will switch to 10w30 during winter and back to 15w50 next spring/summer.

it must just be our cars once they become turbo'd becuase my friend with a wrx and sti runs redline 10w30 syn in both and has had no problems. he actually has seen gains in mpg and a lil hp out of the syn oil. i am running redline syn 10w30 in las vegas (read 120 degree heat) and have over 4k miles(did change the filter once) and the oil looks just as good as when i poured it in. before i put in the redline the regular oil that i took out was ten times blacker than what my current oil looks so i think syn are just fine for our cars. and it ends up being cheaper becuase of extended drain intervals. hobie yeah i thought about that after i wrote it and realized i had it backwards LOL
