question about the lights in my '09

question about the lights in my '09
I can tell that it has auto headlights on and off, but yet if its night and i put the ebrake down i can tell lights are coming on the front, and when i turn the switch to turn the lights on it gets brighter, so what lights are on then?
also is there a way to use just parking lights and fog lights? it seemed like unless i had my headlights on, i couldn't turn the fog lights on.

you have daytime running lights...
Daytime running lights - on 24-7, except when you have the e-brake on (and even that is only when you first turn it on, AFAIK).
Parking lights & fogs - no, not unless you do some rewiring.
